You decide to play it safe and allow the scan to continue. While it’s exciting that you found a possible escape pod worth investigating. The results given are quite primitive with a lot of things still not checked. Who knows if another escape pod is found to have a better result.
You go back to sleep for a few hours. The ship is rather cold after all and the only warm place is in your quarters. You were rather surprised by just how homesick you ended up becoming on this trip. It’s not like you have much to return home to these days.
You get woke up again by the computer informing you that all scans have been completed. It found one other escape pod. It also now has more details about the escape pods themselves.
It reports that the first escape pod you found appears to have the outer door securely locked. It also believes that cutting into the door to get it open might trigger some kind of self-defense system. It appears you have dodged quite an uncertain and possibly horrifying end. The computer for safety reasons removes it from the list of options it’s willing to take you closer to.
The other escape pod appears to be in working order. It also appears the door is unlocked and you will have no issues getting into the escape pod. After talking back and forth between the computer for a sort of while you order it to take you close to the second escape pod.
Once the ship takes you as close as it can. You suit up and head out the double airlocks (this action costs 5 Oxygen, if you do not have 5 oxygen continue here instead). You then burn a little fuel in your spacesuit to launch yourself across a small gap between your ship and the pod you found. You managed to stick the landing and grab onto a handle on the escape pod's door.
You manage to turn the door handle and move the door open. Slowly you drift into the escape pod closing the door behind you. As soon as your foot touches the floor the escape pod awakes as if it was in a great slumber.
You feel your feet slowly start to feel heavier as artificial gravidity is returned and the escape pod starts to pressurize itself. After a short while some green lights light up on the dashboard and you can hear through a voice communication between your ship that the environment now appears to be safe to take off your helmet.
As you take off your helm there is a slightly sweet taste in the air. Whatever it is it’s on the tip of your tongue and you can’t quite place the form when it was or what it was. It somewhat reminds you of home making you even more homesick for a few moments before you snap back into the reality of the situation you are in.
You sit down in the chair in the escape pod which is much taller than you are. Your feet dangle off the floor. The chair was made for something much bigger. You start to look around and see a dashboard filled with buttons you could not even begin to guess what they did or why some of them were blinking purple, orange, red, or even green
Once the escape pod realizes you are firmly in the chair you start to hear it say a bunch of things you could not even begin to guess what they are. You then see flashing symbols you could swear they appear to be counting down to something.
You then hear the propulsion system start to wind up and are catapulted at great speeds far away from your ship. You don’t have the slightest idea where you are heading. You can only guess there was some kind of preprogrammed destination that the escape pod is now taking you to. You can only hope for your sake this ends well.
