That countdown made you feel rather unconformable. You decide to play it safe and just head back into your ship for the time being. You decide maybe it is best to just allow the ship to finish scanning the remaining escape pods. You then would choose to go back in or explore other others.
You pull yourself back through the hole you made into the door launching yourself over the small gap between the two ships. You then sit in the airlock for a moment waiting to be pressurized.
As you do you hear your ship sounding an alarm.
WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! ENERGY BUILDUP DETECTED
You yell at the computer from the airlock to get as far away as it can. The ship suddenly takes defensive maneuvers. It enables military thrust sending you flying in the airlock to the back door smacking your head.
WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! CRITICAL ENERGY BUILDUP DETECTED
It seems like the escape pod is about to do whatever it plans to do. The computer seems to think it’s about to explode. You just hope you can clear enough space away from the pod in time to not suffer any further damage.
The airlock finally finished pressuring. You were expecting it to take a lot longer. It however seems the computer is running everything in military mode. You don’t disagree with it that sitting in that airlock was not going to be a safe place.
You run as fast as you can up to the helm of the ship. You want to see if the computer has any further information on what is occurring. As you get up there you see a countdown to the expected time for the escape pod to explode.
5 . . . 4 . . . 3 . . . 2 . . . 1 . . .
You wait and wait. Perhaps 30 seconds go by. Then you hear a massive explosion. Thankfully you were far enough away from it that the ship not only survived but no further damage from the best you could tell occurred.
The remaining escape pods were lost in the explosion. You decide to cut your losses and go elsewhere.
