You decided to turn around and try to make it out of the forest before nightfall. That house just seemed too creepy you did not want to get stuck there during the night. As long as you can make it back to the beach you should be able to follow the coastline till you see the lights of your spaceship where you have an emergency shelter set up. You will however need to quicken the pace you are walking to make it in time.
The forest is so dense here you can’t make out the sky. All you have is your watch that was adjusted to the time of the moon concerning time in a way it makes sense to you regarding the moon's orbit. You however have been walking for quite some time now. You are getting rather tired.
You deiced it can’t hurt anything if you take just a short break. You could use some water and a bite or two of a food cube might help you regain some energy for the long walk back. You end up seeing a tree stump that you did not notice the first time around that looks like quite an inviting place to rest at.
For a while, as you are sitting you turn your head looking at the forest. Just to see if anything sticks out that you might have also not noticed. It all just looks the same. It feels like you could sit there for hours on end just staring into the forest.
You look down at your watch and to your shock, it had been hours. You have no idea how such a short break turned into so long of a time. You do however believe it is still possible to get back. The break however would have to come to an end now and you will have to start jogging to make it in time.
As you get up and turn around to start facing the direction of the trail to take you back to the beach. Something seems a bit off. There is no longer a trail. It is as if the forest grew around you. Blocking off going anywhere else but back up to the house.
It looks like you have no choice in the matter. You are going to have to spend the night at the house. Hopefully, in the morning you will have a clear path back to the beach. For now, however, you grit your teeth and try to gain what little courage you can for the task at hand.
It felt like it took half as much time as it did for you to get to the tree stump that you rested on than it took to get back to the house. It looked even further terrifying than it did the first time around. You would have sworn the green and brown moss and vines now have specks of red and orange in them.
It however matters little at this point. You must enter the house. What else are you going to do? Stay out here all night?
