You decided you have had enough of the forest. There appears to be nothing of importance here at all. As if this place was meant to just waste your time. A walk to the beach will take several days to complete. As such you headed up to the ship for one final check that you have enough food cubes and other supplies with you.
The great thing about the beach being a planned landing site is the ship will meet you there. You decided it would be best to go exploring instead of taking the easy way off the ship. You wanted to get a better understanding of the surrounding wooded areas. The computer scanners for some reason were having a hard time getting through all the trees with how dense they are to get detailed information about what is beyond this spot in any meaningful depth.
You also pack up your emergency shelter. It is lightweight enough that you can carry it with you. While it was tempting to just pack it in the ship there are zero reasons to leave yourself exposed in case a storm or high winds start to overtake the area.
While the winds have been rather low in the forest clearing you have been staying at. With how straight the path is to the east you could be walking down a wind tunnel which could be quite dangerous. The computer also seems to think there will be a high chance of a rains storm during one of the nights you are talking about this trek to the next site.
The first day of walking was rather uneventful. You were kind of shocked at just how quickly it went by. In no time you already had to set up the emergency shelter to spend the night in. At this point the wind started to pick up it was however just a quick gust of wind.
That wind was perhaps what made you fall asleep so easily. You then started to have a dream about massive flooding and endless clapping of thundering. You awoke with bright flashes of lighting. It appears the dream you thought you were having was a reflection of what was going on in the real world.
Thankfully the emergency shelter was built to withstand powerful winds, heat, cold, and even large amounts of rain. It rained like a monsoon throughout the remainder of the night and into the next day. You thankfully stayed nice and dry.
You were however getting rather bored of the rain by the second nightfall of this trip. You just hoped the rain would clear up in the morning. You did not have any idea since the rain was so heavy it was interfering with the connection between your wristwatch and the ship's computer to get any kind of meaningful data on the current status of the storm.
By the next morning after a rather uncomfortable rest the storm had cleared. The grand was oversaturated with water making conditions quite slippery and muddy. It had appeared you would have to be sloshing through the mess for the entire day.
You were however shocked by how well-maintained the trail was otherwise. Not a single tree or branch where laying in the trail itself. By noon time the muddy ground had fully dried up as well back into its normal lush green traveled path like it was before the storm.
You ended up finding a nice dry spot to sit on during lunch. You took in the sights as the closer you got to the beach which was still a bit of a distance away the more light that seemed to make it into the forest. It must have been quite an enjoyable day down at the beach.
After that quick rest, it was back at it marching one foot in front of the other. You almost wish there was some sign of anything else having traveled down this trail. It might have made things a little more interesting as you were at this point getting tired of the endless sea of the same-looking trees over and over again.
You found a nice and flat area to set up the emergency shelter for the evening. While you were not hoping to lose an entire day due to a storm you at least had enough food cubes to get you through if this adventure ended up taking a couple of extra days.
The next morning you could almost make up the full sunrise through the tree canopies. It was breathtaking just how much for vivid the colors of the sun were from how it looked in the clearing in the forest camp.
You packed up the emergency tent and yet again set off for yet another long walk. You could almost smell a hint of the ocean water from here. It put a bit of energy in each footstep you took making you walk a bit quicker.
Hoping perhaps today was the day you would reach the new beach landing site. Even your wristwatch gave you high odds if you keep up this above-average pace you could make it before nightfall. So you pushed on electing to skip out on eating lunch that day.
After many days of walking, you can finally see the lights of your ship off in the distance. You were somewhat shocked you never noticed it going into the air or even headed the engines. You have no idea if it had just gotten there or has been there for days awaiting your arrival.
You ended up making it by nightfall. You walk into the ship for a nice hot shower and to get some fresh food cubes to eat for dinner. You then use the lights of the ship to set up the emergency shelter outside. While it was tempting to sleep in the ship for the night you have rather enjoyed being able to star gaze anytime you wake up in the night.
On this evening you drifted in and out of sleep. A nasty nightmare of flooding kept being the theme of the dreamscape your mind was stuck in for the night. Thankfully days later your dreams would clear up and go on to other things.
