You decided to head down the middle tunnel in the cave next. This one seemed to be quite a bit straighter than the last one. At least it was for a while. One would suppose it only had so much room to go in either direction before it would have hit either of the other tunnels next to it.
You also started to realize this one had a bit of a downward slope to it. While it was not so steep that you felt like you might lose your gripe and roll down. It was more than enough to be noticeable. This was one of the tunnels the computer noticed that seemed to have gone down.
After walking for over an hour you came across something quite unusual indeed. It was like an underwater lake. While it might have been only a couple hundred feet in each direction the best you could tell by flashlight. It was not a pond that was for sure. The water itself reflected soft hues of pink and orange as you flashed the light past it.
The water itself was also cold. You realize this when you stuck your hand in the water trying to work out how deep it would go. You could not touch the bottom and did not feel like trying to dive would have been worth the effort. Besides, you have no way to dry off and while it was not freezing down in the cave yet being wet and cold was not going to be a smart way since you had no way to start a fire.
After spending a little too long gazing at the water it was time to head off again. The large room you found yourself and the lake in slowly went back down to just something tall and wide enough for you to fight through as you went further along the path of the tunnel.
You were not quite certain what you were even hoping to find here. Just anything. Well, just anything beyond just finding a lake. You did however wonder if that had to do with anything this place was about. Perhaps if you find nothing else you thought to yourself you would head back and take another look at that lake.
For now, however, you had a lot of walking ahead of you. You thought at best you would spend a day walking in one direction before calling somewhere to sleep at night. You did not want to go too far off in one direction but you wanted to go far enough that you allowed there to be a chance of finding something.
The tunnel just kept going on and going. You would sometimes look at your wristwatch and see the hours slowly trickling by. It was hard trying to base the time being stuck in an underground cave and all that.
As you looked ahead of you with the flashlight you realized the tunnel was about to split into two. There was a left tunnel and a right tunnel.
