There has always been times when we had to have something to listen to while doing something. Many may say that they tend to do their daily chores while they listen to something in the background. Everyone loves Music and there's not many who hate it.
It gives us a sort of companionship when we are lonely or alone. It makes us feel a lot of emotions that we would never even realised that they were present. It is a soul food for those in need, having a variety of meanings for all walks of life and it ages with time. There is always something special about a song that we had heard when we were little.
Music brings about nostalgia, gives us emotional support when we are down or just want to have some time off for ourselves. This is not provided by any other form of medium so explicitly.
Music transcends boundaries and can be enjoyed by all of the human race alike, even though they may be from a different part of the world or speak different language. It is relatable to art, where it is sort of an universal language and anyone could delve into its depth and appreciate its beauty.
There was a time when we could only listen to music on the Radio and that too only when the radio station was broadcasting. We had no choice of control over the music and had to just make do with what they played. Then came along the Vinyl Records, allowing for much user friendly and personalized experience, where you could listen to any of your collections wherever and however you wanted. But this was too pricey to be considered as a necessity. It was a luxury that many couldn't afford.
Then came the Digital Age and along with it came the host of new features and ability to store, record, view, skip and listen to millions of songs from a playback device that could fit in the palm of your hands. It changed the way we viewed and listened Music. It helped the masses to also enjoy the pleasures Music brought with it along with allowing for a much efficient and easier method of storage and sharing. This allowed for all to be able to access music, after paying for it, from anywhere in the world and led to a lot of revenue for the artists as their user base included the whole world, a significant increase from what their user base was from before.
Due to a lot of revenue being generated from this advancement, many wanted a piece of action that led to the formation of publishing and Streaming houses that were created as a platform for artists and producers to be able to showcase and sell their Music while paying a fee for using it. This had its advantages like that of having not to set up an independent site or platform for publishing their Music and so on. But this brought a suite of disadvantages such as the Rights of the Music belonging to the Publishing House rather than the artist, artists not having the say on the pricing of their Music, exorbitant fees for using the platforms and so on and so forth.
Maestro Platform
They plan on solving the above mentioned problems by creating a Platform for Musicians, Artists and Producers based on Blockchain. This meant that the system was decentralised and the power of say was not concentrated in the hands of a few top companies and publishing houses.
What this also meant was that there were on middlemen and the platform was free to use, with artists having to not pay for using it. It also meant that it was fully transparent and it allowed for Artists to own rights to their Music with not much fuss.
ICO & Team
They plan on powering their platform by introducing the Maestro (MAE) Token which is based on EOS Platform. They are planning on holding their 1st ICO on 7 July, with their Private Sale already in progress. It requires for you to be Registered, Whitelisted and KYC Verified in order to participate in the ICO.
The Founders and rest of the team has adequate experience in Software Development, IT, Music, Legal, Publishing, Blockchain, HR, Community Management and Design respectively. The advisory board consists of renowned and experienced Musicians, Artists, Songwriters, Investors, Entrepreneurs who also bring along their expertise in fields of Music Industry, Publishing, Business Development, Blockchain, and Investments.
Conclusion
They have got a good mix of experienced and diverse team members and advisory board, with the presence of a lot of Artists. They also seem to have a unique product which is their MVP.
It is just that the market is saturated and full of competition from a host of traditional as well as Blockchain players on the field and they also do not have the first mover advantage as well.
They also require a huge support from the artist's community to become a influential player in the field as it is basically focusing on Music alone for now. It remains to be seen if they can provide on their promises in the long run and they gain a huge user base to stay relevant in a fast paced and high revenue industry with deep pocketed players.
