There was no plan to tell you about this particular project but needed an illustration about silence because I am going to the Art of Living silence and meditation program today and will be there untill this week ends.
Being in deep silence for few days is an amazing experience when you can just be with yourself in the nature outside of a city just observing everything doing nothing. I will not be able to post or comment anything. And I don't want to do it. Want my mind to relax. But I hope to try schedule posting in eSteem application so you might continue reading new illustration stories here this week. I can write more about silence course after getting back home if you want. I love this yoga practice a lot. It brings back childhood feelings when you have no patterns in your mind starting a day without a single thought just watching how everything is beautiful in this world...
Road Safety
According to some stats from The National Safety Council using cell phone is the reason of 1.6 million crashes each year.
- Nearly 330,000 injuries occur each year from accidents caused by texting while driving.
- 1 out of every 4 car accidents in the United States is caused by texting and driving.
- Texting while driving is 6x more likely to cause an accident than driving drunk.
- 11 teens die every day as a result of texting while driving.
That was the main reason behind creating these social ads. It was an order from Emirates agency. But how to create an awareness for the drivers not to use their social networks while driving? They had really strange and violent idea to draw Facebook, Twitter and Blackberry like characters sitting on the driver's seat with their mouths tied up. For some reason many people from that reason asking me to draw such a darky things for advertisements. I wanted to take this order because of the good budget but had to soften final illustrations. I don't like to draw violence actually.
God, they've sent me this sketches and said you know, we've tried hard with different illustrators but we don't like the result too much. Lol, what? A bird with the beak sewed together? Facebook guy with the mouth gag? Is it an advert to join some terrorist's clan?
I've tried to keep the main idea but move far away from this awful perception. Came out with this sketches asking them to remove gags and knits but to use a silence gesture. I guess it was the only way here.
Anyway they've pushed me to do their initial variants with my small suggestions. I hope it became less aggressive my way though I don't think this is super good as social adverts still I am glad to have this work in my portfolio.
