After recently getting married and bringing a baby into the world, Victoria and I felt we needed to spend some time together, just the two of us. After browsing the web for last minute deals, Bulgaria appeared on our radar with relatively short flights from Moscow, as well as cheap accommodation and travel within the country. Plovdiv isnβt like Paris or Rome, but it is a walk able city. This was exactly what we needed after a very tiresome few weeks.
The city is going through a cultural revival since choosing to dedicate a vast amount of its resources into arts, culture and music around the city β earning the title of European Capital of Culture for 2019. Plovdiv's rich history has given it one of the most charming old towns in Eastern Europe. It is located on one of seven hills, Nebet Hill, which was our favourite because it is a beautiful spot for watching the sunset.
Like many cities in Europe, it has crafted its old town into a modern, tourist-friendly layout, and just walking around it provides plenty of things to do and see as it contains many of the top attractions in the country. I'm not sure who the couple are, but I thought that they made the photo more interesting.
