The Congress has won the crucial by-elections of Chitrakoot in Madhya Pradesh, beating the BJP by an edge of more than 14,000 votes.
The seat, a Congress bastion, had fallen empty after the passing of its sitting administrator Prem Singh after a drawn out disease in May. Mr Singh had won the gathering body electorate, circumscribing Uttar Pradesh, in the 1998, 2003 and 2013 races. Be that as it may, in 2008, he had lost the seat to BJP's Surendra Singh Gaharwar.
This time the BJP, which handled Shankarlal Tripathi, had sent its best firearms to crusade for him. Other than Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Uttar Pradesh vice president serve Keshav Prasad Maurya and MP BJP boss Nandkumar Chouhan had likewise crusaded in Chitrakoot.
Be that as it may, Mr Tripathi was beaten by an edge of 14,333 votes by Congress competitor Neelandhu Chaturvedi. Mr Chaturvedi surveyed 66,810 votes against Mr Tripathi's 52,677.
The Congress had manufactured its crusade around the charged debasement and terrible organization of the BJP, which won the state for the third successive time in 2013.
