Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta ((IIM-C) has launched a 6 month course in FinTech and Blockchain development and hopes to attract 2000 learners over the next few years. FinTech sector globally has been attracting huge investment and has seen a rapid increase in developer requirements.
The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) are a group of 20 public, autonomous institutes of management education and research in India. They primarily offer postgraduate, doctoral and executive education programmes.
IIM-C hopes to address this talent shortage in this space which has been one of the growing pains of this industry. However, all stakeholders in the blockchain industry in India have acknowledged the importance of investing in education and take on learning journey in order to develop new talent from India.
After all India is the second biggest FinTech hub after China in the world and the sector is expected to grow to over $70 billion worth in the next year.
According to press release the course will be based on a hybrid executive format with onsite visits to the IIM-C campus and live online sessions via the TalentSprint digital platform. In addition, TalentSprint will use its knowledge and network within the FinTech sector to curate and offer start-of-art capstone projects for programme participants, and actively leverage its digital platform for the purpose of accelerated experiential learning.
IIM-C has over 50 years track record in academic excellence. It is the only management institute in India with triple accreditation from AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS.
NASSCOM estimates Indian FinTech will double in size every three years while Gartner predicts that within a decade, 80 per cent of financial firms will lose their relevance because of the threats posed by new FinTech advancements, unforeseen competition, and altered customer preferences.
The program has been structured for executives who are graduates (10+2+3 or equivalent)/post graduates in any discipline with minimum 50% marks, with an experience profile of at least 2 years after graduation are eligible.
