In the gameweek 25 of La liga Santander Barcelona faced off against Sevilla at Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in Seville.
The game got off to a breezy start as both sides built up some good fast moves at either end of the pitch.Barca as usual were dominant in the possession game but Sevilla were more potent in the attacking third and they were rewarded in the 22nd minute for their persistence when Navas slotted past Ter Stegan to open the scoring.
But Sevilla joy did not last long as Messi equalised at the other with what could probably be the goal of the season with Rakitic's pass. The game was as openas it could get and Sevilla once again took the lead in the 42nd min through an exquisite finish from Gabriel Marcado. The chance was created by Sarabia who did not give up on a pass that was slightly overhit and was going towards the goal line. They maintained their lead and Went into half time with a goal advantage.
The second half began in much similar way as the privious one. Barca brought on Dembele and Roberto for vidal and Semedo.Sevilla tried to play on the counter but pique showed us some very good defensive skills. He even got an opportunity to equalise when he was set one on one with Sevilla Goalkeeper by Messi but only to be outpaced by Simon Kjaer.
It wasn't untill the 67 that Barca equalised once again with Messi assisted by Dembele. After that it was all one way road as Sevilla players looked tired and could not muster up any attacking threats in the Barca half. In the 85 minute Barca took the lead for the first time in this game once again courtesy of Messi who latched on to a deflection and chipped the ball into the back of the net and that completed his hattrick. This was the 50th career hattrick for Messi.
In the added time Luis Suarez also found the back of the net. This time Messi turned provider for that goal. And that rounded up the scores for the day to (4-2)in favour of Barca.
The match helped Barca take a comfortable 10 point lead at the top of the table above Atletico Madrid.
