Thor: Ragnarok is a 2017 superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Thor. The film is the sequel to Thor and Thor: The Dark World and the seventeenth installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film was directed by Taika Waititi and stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, alongside an ensemble cast including Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson, Karl Urban, Mark Ruffalo, and Anthony Hopkins.

The plot of the film picks up after the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron, with Thor imprisoned by the fire demon Surtur in Muspelheim. Thor learns that Surtur plans to bring about the end of Asgard, known as Ragnarok, and that he must prevent this from happening. Thor escapes and returns to Asgard, only to find that his adopted brother Loki has been ruling in his absence and that their father Odin is missing.

Thor and Loki team up to search for Odin, but are instead confronted by Hela, the Asgardian goddess of death and their long-lost older sister. Hela reveals that she was imprisoned by Odin for her violent and ambitious ways, and seeks to claim her rightful place as the ruler of Asgard. Thor and Loki are forced to team up with Valkyrie, a former Asgardian warrior, and the Hulk to stop Hela and save Asgard.

The film explores the themes of family, loyalty, and the consequences of power. The character development of Thor and Loki is central to the plot, as they are forced to confront their past and their relationships with each other and their father. The special effects and action sequences in the film are impressive, and the inclusion of the Hulk and other MCU characters adds to the film's wider universe-building.

Thor: Ragnarok is a fun and exciting superhero film that successfully blends action and humor. Hemsworth and Hiddleston deliver strong performances as Thor and Loki, and the supporting cast is also impressive. The film is a must-see for fans of the MCU and the superhero genre.
