What is fasting?
- In most simplest way, fasting is a state when we don't intake food and/or drink water.
- We can classify fasting into two terms
1. Long-term (intermittent) fasting - Long-term doesn't actually means that you can do it for years( you can try ), but unlike usual 24 hr fasting this can be practised for way longer.
- Intermittent fasting is a long-term fasting plan, where we have to limit our daily food intake hours to the minimum.
- It is not very old technique but can be beneficial if done strategically.

- Here we have to limit our eating hours to 8 hrs out of 24 hrs (you can drink water as you wish), going below this will make it impractical.
- Our main goal is to give body more time to utilise stored fats, which will lead to fat loss making your body more leaner.
- This may improve your senses and may make your brain more clear by suppressing unwanted thoughts.
Pros
- Helps reduce good amount of fat in short amount of time.
- More practical compared to usual 24 hr fasting routine.
- Helps prevent indigestion.

Cons
- Not recommended for people with blood pressure conditions or similar problems.
- Can lead towards overeating on the non-fasting day.
- Can be the cause for consistent mood swings.
2. Short-term fasting
- Most of us are familiar with these kinds of fasting probably due to religious beliefs.
- Fast may last upto 24 hrs at max, without intake of any food and/or water.
- Main objective of this type of fasting is to give a little shock to body, and provide some time period to circulate blood without any food and/or water in the system which leads to detoxification of the body.
- As this type of fast is really hard to practise and can be done only once every several months, most people couldn't follow it.

- Help detox the body and may increase lifespan.
- Help boost metabolism.
- Better heart health
Cons
- Not recommended for people with medical conditions.
- Hard to maintain.
- Can cause uneasy feeling due to unnecessary gas formation in the stomach.
Conclusion:-
Fast can be beneficial for health and even helpfull for increasing lifespan, but if done with half knowledge can lead towards a disastrous experience and bad health.
