GEMPABUMI DESIGNING WEST JAVA SUKABUMI REGION
On Friday, December 15, 2017, tectonic earthquake rocked the Sukabumi area. BMKG analysis results show that the earthquake occurred at 23:04:39 WIB with the power of M = 4.5 Richter Scale with the epicenter located at coordinates 7.29 LS and 106.69 BT, exactly at a distance of 48 Km Southwest SUKABUMI-WEST JAVA at a depth of 50 km.
BMKG shakemap map shows that the impact of earthquake in the form of shocks felt in Sukabumi and surrounding areas. Based on the report of the earthquake people felt in Jampang and Surade I SIG-BMKG (I-II MMI) areas, however until now there has been no reports of damage.
Judging from the depth of his hypocenter, it appears that this earthquake is a shallow depth earthquake due to Indo-Australian plate subduction activity that infiltrated the Eurasian Plate resulting in rock deformation.
BMKG monitoring results to date have shown no subsequent earthquake. For that to the people in the area of Sukabumi region of West Java and surrounding areas are encouraged to remain calm.
