The gate is the place of exit or entry into a place where the main object is surrounded by a fence or cross the river, so we must pass through the gate.
The door is the part that closes access passing through the gate house. Today many modern gates / doors are designed automatically and therefore can open and close automatically too.
The gate function is usually to control / monitor the number and capacity of people entering in the area. The building of the gate can be very simple only in the form of openings usually on a fence. Other names for gates are doors and gates.
