According to the story of a resident of Bantul, Tirta Perwitasari (23), this place is actually a rice field owned by local residents. It was once planted with rice but it has not been planted for a long time and eventually the hyacinth grows wild. Unlike the amaryllis flower garden that is planted and treated, the water hyacinth flower in the hamlet grows naturally in fields full of water.
"During the dry season, the hyacinth plant dries up and withers and some even die, but when the rainy season the hyacinth plant begins to grow back and bloom as it is today," said Tirta when contacted on Wednesday.
Admitted Tirta, almost every day he passes this place because of its location close to his grandmother's house and just on the side of the road. Currently water hyacinth is flowering season so this place looks like a flower garden. No wonder that the flowers from plants that are weeds for these farmers so the center of attention of local people and domestic tourists to hunting photos.
Still according to the same source, the owner of a rice field called Karsono who is none other than the head of the local RT. The owner of the rice field does not ask for money when there are visitors who go to the fields. It's just that he handed over the management to the local youth and only suggested money from the parking of Rp 2,000 to be set aside as RT cash.
"Now, it is managed by local youths, continue to be fitted with bridges from bamboo so that if anyone wants a picture can be a little to the middle and not need to push into the middle of the flowers.The manager also forbids to pick flowers," he said.
Hyacinth or water hyacinth (Eichornia crassipes) is one type of wet or water plant that floats above the water surface. Hyacinth has a high growth rate so that this plant is considered as a weed that can damage the aquatic environment. Hyacinth is easily spread through water channels to other water bodies.
