Waste Bank - Bank Sampah

Last Saturday I visited Hive account@raihanafn's school for a meeting. Entering the school area I see the yard and field are clean, free of garbage and yard planted with beautiful trees. When shooting the situation around, suddenly my smartphone camera captures a cage of wood that contains trash of used plastic bottles. This reminds me of the Tsunami Recovery Waste Management Program, a UNDP program funded by the Multi Donor Fund (MDF) in 2007-2012. At that time I worked in the Sanitation Department and joined the TRWMP Team and worked with my friend Hive account@langitbyru who was working at UNDP. Some of the activities undertaken are the capacity building and the socialization to the public and students in the schools on waste management.

This garbage Cage is a gift from TRWMP during socialization of waste management in this school. I appreciate the school that is still maintaining and functioning the garbage Cage. It is one of the tools needed to run the Waste Bank program in schools. Waste Bank Program aims to train students in plastic waste management with economic value.

Waste Bank accommodates plastic waste both produced in the school environment and at the students' homes. Students are given a waste saving book that records how many kilograms of plastic waste they bring and convert to rupiah according to the price of plastic waste at the time. Waste Bank in this school is still filled, but unfortunately because the meeting started soon, I did not have time to ask the school whether the system of plastic waste management by Waste Bank method is still continuing. Suddenly a crazy idea appeared in my head and I will tell the Nanggroe Steemit Community (NSC) team, this could be the entrance for the promo-steemit to the schools.[]

Sabtu kemarin saya berkunjung ke sekolah anak perempuan saya Hive account@raihanafn untuk mengikuti rapat. Memasuki kawasan sekolah saya melihat halaman dan lapangan yang bersih, bebas sampah dan halaman ditanami pohon-pohon yang asri. Saat memotret keadaan sekitar, tiba-tiba kamera smartphone saya menangkap sebuah sangkar dari kayu yang berisi sampah botol-botol plastik bekas. Ini mengingatkan saya pada kegiatan Tsunami Recovery Waste Management Programme, merupakan program UNDP didanai oleh Multi Donor Fund (MDF) pada tahun 2007-2012. Saat itu saya bekerja di Dinas Kebersihan dan ikut dalam Tim TRWMP dan bekerja bersama dengan teman saya Hive account@langitbyru yang saat itu bekerja di UNDP. Beberapa kegiatan yang dilakukan adalah peningkatan kapasitas aparatur dan sosialisasi kepada masyarakat umum dan siswa di sekolah-sekolah tentang pengelolaan sampah.

Sangkar sampah ini adalah pemberian dari TRWMP saat melakukan sosialisasi pengelolaan sampah di sekolah ini. Saya mengapresiasi sekolah ini yang masih menyimpan dan memfungsikan sangkar sampah tersebut hingga saat ini. Sangkar sampah ini adalah salah satu alat yang diperlukan untuk menjalankan program Bank Sampah di sekolah-sekolah. Program Bank Sampah bertujuan untuk melatih para siswa dalam pengelolaan sampah plastik yang bernilai ekonomi.

Bank Sampah menampung sampah plastik baik yang dihasilkan di lingkungan sekolah maupun di rumah para siswa. Siswa diberi buku tabungan sampah yang mencatat berapa kilogram sampah plastik yang mereka bawa dan dikonversi ke rupiah sesuai dengan harga sampah plastik saat itu. Bank Sampah di sekolah ini masih berisi, namun sayang karena rapat segera dimulai, saya tidak sempat menanyakan ke pihak sekolah apakah sistem pengelolaan sampah plastik dengan metode Bank Sampah ini masih berlanjut. Tiba-tiba muncul ide gila di kepala saya dan akan saya sampaikan kepada Tim Nanggroe Steemit Community (NSC), ini bisa jadi pintu masuk bagi promo-steemit ke sekolah-sekolah.[]
