When people call authorities to report neighbors or businesses who are violating social distancing and other arbitrary government edicts, they are, knowingly or not, putting those neighbors or businesses in worse danger than the said neighbors / businesses would otherwise be in by perhaps exposing themselves to the COVID-19 threat. A police officer showing up at a business or domestic call is a wildly more dangerous situation than a hypothetical threat of virus exposure. Police officers are empowered by the state to issue orders and compel compliance. They are armed. They may use force. As explained in the article, sometimes things go south when police show up and start issuing orders and using force.
If people are truly concerned about safety related to COVID-19 exposure, they should resist getting the police involved. The safe path is just to mind your own business and let other people live their own lives. Let the police officers focus on criminals. Don't drop a dime on neighbors or businesses if you think they are being virus-reckless. If you see somebody having fun or earning a living, don't say something. Don't be a Karen.
