Turkey is a strategic member of Nato and also a strategic partner of the USA due to the fact the USA has forces there and uses the above base. So why antagonise a supposed ally?.

As this war winds down, everyone wants to secure a piece of the pie, whether it is land, oil-wells or simply influence to keep Assad in a position of weakness.
