First it was the USDA sending us surveys, now the U.S. Census Bureau wants to know our personal information.
It’s one thing to send out these surveys in hopes the recipients will fill them out, it’s a whole ’nother ballgame when the government uses guilt and fear tactics to get their people to willingly spill their private information. No sir, not here. We won’t fall for that!
We received a letter from the U.S. Census Bureau a few weeks ago, wanting us to fill out The American Community Survey online. Ever since we received that USDA survey in the mail a few years ago, we are very sceptical about these kinds of things. Unlike the USDA survey however, this letter included a nice little FAQ packet that did cite where in the law “it is required” to fill this out. So of course, I had to check it out.
Thankfully, one of the top articles that resulted from my google search was this one here: http://www.truthistreason.net/how-to-legally-refuse-to-participate-in-the-census-survey
A very useful article indeed! I highly recommend you read this should you ever receive an American Community Survey. Actually, this is useful for all of us that fill out the 10 year survey.
Here is the letter we received with our survey.
They may attempt to call me or personally visit me if I don’t fill out this “important” survey. Why is it important? Because it will help decide where new schools, hospitals, and fire stations are needed. Hmm... I thought that was the job of municipalities, not the federal government. So what do they really need this information so badly for?
And don’t worry, your data is protected from cyber security risks and they keep your information confidential. Hmm... I don’t know about that one either.
I see the postage is paid on the return envelope. I just may have to copy that letter from the above article and mail it to them.
