The quran says from the begining [2:63] that Jews and Christians are believers and continues talking about "believers" through out the book. It only singles out Christians or Jews for comments that the Quran thinks people of that religion do wrong at that time such as Christians that believe Jesus is a god and now a days everyone knows and agrees he is human. Islam was mentioned when it says "God's religion is Islam" but since its Arabic it just means God believes in peace (Islam). While reading the Quran I did not think it was going against my or your religion. Please take a look at my article, I wrote it just for such misconceptions. Also note that not all branches of Islam emphasize on the importance of 2:63 which is why I spoke out against some radical branches in my posts. Me personally find Liberal Islam most agreeable part of the spectrum. Men and Women pray together and they dont follow the Haddith (which I find unnecessary since muslims are required to compete with each other in doing good not do equally good as Muhammed, who is only human, did 600AD) but just the Quran. Just because Jesus pushed a boy off a roof does not mean Christians shwould (should or would) do the same.
The Quran outspoke against double morals though between groups of people, making an apartheid state that can truely call it's self "Islamic" impossible. I believe I mentioned in that article as well what I think about Saudi calling them self an Islamic country. Dhimi law is one of those controversial sharia laws that dont make sense at all (sharia laws most muslims do not want). Stoning is also another sharia law that does not make sense as it is not in the quran and a law that treats different types of believers different also would not make sense as Dhimmi means monotheistic.
I might have to see sources on creators of the "gelber stern" as I have difficulties finding it?
