One of the nastiest fictionial characters I’ve seen in a long time, Ramsay Bolton. A true piece of garbarge. 😂
First off, I had to find an image that I believe captured his evil spirit. I settled on this one and ran it under the Drawing Grid app on my iPad:
The grid helps with accuracy and proportion, but I’m not trying for photorealism. I just want a good likeness so that I can throw some of my own flavor into the piece and still have it ring true.
The tools.... Pentel 0.5 mechanical pencil, Staedler 0.3 pigment liner, Copic 0.1 multiliner, Zebra 301A ballpoint, Pentel black brush pen, and assorted Copic markers. I use mostly cool gray and warm gray in various tones for the piece, but there are a few splashes of color here and there:
Up next we get the preliminary sketch in:
Some basic pen outline, and erase the gridlines. Not much there, but it’s a decent start:
Lightest shadows and tones initially while I get a feel for it:
Some darker tones:
Finally the likeness is taking a little shape:
Mostly done with the face:
Throw in a smidge of background, and voilá:
Thanks for following along. Have a great day!
