Hey Hive community! 👋
In our previous posts, we broke down the mechanics of how Innopay works to bring a zero-fee checkout experience to local businesses. But now, we want to step back from the how and focus on the who and the why.
When building on Web3, the philosophy behind the tech is just as important as the code itself. Here is the vision driving Innopay forward.
Who Are We?
We are an open brand and a true community initiative.
Based in Luxembourg and hosted entirely within the EU, Innopay operates as a community-first initiative. We are building a sovereign, blockchain-powered system designed natively for Europe. By operating as an open brand, our focus is on creating a robust, decentralized infrastructure that serves the people actually using it.
We are utilizing the Hive blockchain. Why? Because a true open brand requires a truly decentralized, feeless, and scalable base layer. Hive’s architecture gives us the exact foundation we need to process every-day microtransactions without the friction of network fees.
Why Does Innopay Exist?
Because local economies shouldn't be drained by expensive, foreign payment rails.
Think about your local coffee shop or neighborhood bakery. Every time someone taps a traditional credit or debit card, a percentage of that sale is instantly extracted by legacy payment gateways and foreign processors. It might seem like a small fee per transaction, but over a year, it represents massive amounts of wealth being systematically drained out of local communities and sent overseas.
Innopay exists to stop that leak.
We are here to put control back into the hands of European businesses and everyday spenders. By utilizing the Hive network, we bypass the rent-seekers completely. This means the merchant keeps 100% of their revenue, the shopper earns real digital value (cashback), and the economic value stays exactly where it belongs: within our own communities.
The Web3 Mission
True financial sovereignthy requires independent infrastructure. We believe Hive has the exact architecture needed to become Europe’s localized payment layer, and we are building the bridge to make that a reality for everyday users.
Let’s build the future of local commerce together. We'd love to hear from the builders and thinkers here on Hive: What do you see as the biggest hurdle for getting local restaurants and shops in your area to adopt an HBD backed payment network?
Drop your thoughts in the comments below, and make sure to give us a follow as we continue building Europe's new payment standard. 💙💛
