This is dedicated to my angel disguised as a Mom; someone once said she’s like a little bonsai, strong and hardy but with thorns at times :):) Despite experiencing grief in its’ harshest form, Mom Lily still is full of spunk.
Mom lost 2 sons, one to suicide, then the most horrific loss when her brother was murdered by homophobic killers, wrote about him in https://steemit.com/art/@lizelle/just-a-little-boy-with-big-dreams.
Last year Mom was diagnosed with a brain tumor, but had surgery and her balance improved. But nothing gets this tough cookie down, she’s back to baking even though a little unsteady, and still very determined to make the most of life. Yep dynamite indeed comes in small packages!
Letter to my Mom:
Dearest mom,
You have shown me the true meaning of friendship and how to live life to the fullest, to really treasure the magnificent highs, but still have faith when in the deep valleys.
You have the gift of patching the little cracks in life with compassion.
Even though you have had to deal with so much sorrow in your life, you still see that silver lining in all situations.
My tiny but strong mother and friend, you have been a guiding light for so many, encouraging and inspiring us, all so immensely blessed to have our very own angel, disguised as a woman, right here on earth.
The biggest inspiration for me has been your positive attitude regarding this beautiful country of ours, even in the midst of all the negativity. You have taught me that change starts from within, and that it starts with one little flickering flame.
Thank you for being the best mother and friend anyone could wish for…
This is the same Mom I wrote about in:

We are truly blessed to still have our Mom with us today and I thank God for that! Mom turned 86 today.
