Words of Anthony De Mello
“ I imagine that I walk into a desert place
I spend some time exploring the surroundings
Then settle down to contemplate my life
I see how frequently I rush outside myself
To people, occupations, places, things
In search of strength; and peace and meaning.
Forgetting that the source of all is here
Within my heart, It is here that I must search”.
Success is best measured by how far you have come with the talents you have been given. One of the things that stop us from reaching our potentials as observed by Jeann Howard and Mike Walton is looking at success somebody else without studying who we are. They may run faster than us, write better, read better, obtain better grades in test and exams, market more than us and so on.
Sometimes it is those who know what their strength and weaknesses are and who keep trying who in the end achieve something constructive, positive and productive in their life. Steven Covey once said “ Act or be acted upon”. If you wait to be acted upon, you will be acted upon. You need to be proactive, smart, value driven and face reality by setting aside time in a solitude place.
Discover your area of strength, focus on it, give all you can and all you will be a reference point in that field. “if you don’t study yourself to discover your purpose on earth, it will be impossible to be who you are designed to be”.

Hey, stop going up and down copying people, the first thing to do is study yourself. Allowing silence to happen when we study ourselves can open up a whole new world of golden opportunities, success and experiences.
Mike Faraday studies himself and succeeded in electricity. It doesn’t come by chance, he knew after failing for 99 times that can do it, it wasn’t a day dream, he made it. The man who started” pure water” business in Nigeria I believe studied himself after many days of silence and came out what he can do and the result was success and others copied. You can make it too, but not by wishes.

To succeed therefore, you must be willing to change from the inside-out by bringing out your creativity diligence and cooperativeness by acknowledging your weakness instantly and learn from it. This literally turns your failure to success as T.J Watson asserted “ Success is on the far side of failure”.
I stand to be corrected but you can only fail when you accept it to be failure but how you see setbacks matters how much you desire success. A young man went to see a Guru, asking the secret to success? The Guru told him to visit the next day and their meeting point should be at the beach. The next Day the young was there early enough and the Guru asking him to join him walk into the sea. They were moving into the sea gradually, water level on the kneels to the waist, to the shoulder and as the went further the guru knew the young man could not swim very well. So, he pressed him down like he wanted him to drown. After few minutes the Guru let go of the young man and when he was able to swim to the shore, he was so angry that he yelled at the Guru that he wanted him dead but the Guru asked him ‘when you were at the sea and I press you what do you desire most? He replied ‘ I was grasping for air’. The Guru told him that, ‘Anyone who wants to succeed must desire it like air when you at the middle of the sea drowning’.
You want money. Note, Money itself is an idea. Everything that man has ever accomplished tangible or not was created from an idea. Learn to know yourself better than anyone so you can be the driver not a passenger of your life.
