Good points; these companies have exploded in size, and once they were big they figured they had the monopoly and could start forcing people to accept their narratives.
Turns out this is a foolish decision that has been pushing people away from those large platforms.
You didn't mention, but this highlights why Zuckerberg has been having to dance on the head of the pin; arguing that he runs an open platform that reserves publishing rights. Open platform means censorship is not allowed, publisher means that Facebook is responsible for each and every death threat, underage naked picture, etc that appears on the platform.
All that made was people to be motivated to create alternative and more censorship resistant platforms.
