Hi Steem community, I’m Geneviève, a teacher, an actress and a bulldog breeder!
I live in Sherbrooke, Canada and I teach kids with special needs. I love my job, those kids are so cute, they only need an ear and a heart. They are one of my great passions in life.
I also love theater! I’ve been in 8 plays yet, and I hope I can keep doing it forever! What I love about acting is that you are no longer yourself. You’re a whole new person, and you can be anyone, so you just let yourself go and give everything. You need a good disconnection with your true self to properly give the character life.
I also like cosplay characters, but haven’t had the courage to make myself a proper costume yet. Comiccon cosplayers, see you soon! :D
But my other passion, my biggest passion, is dogs, especially bulldogs.
Why bulldogs? First of all, they are dumb, they probably are the dumbest dogs of all the breeds. At the same time they are adorable, they can be so sweet and so funny. They are gross, ugly, they smell bad, they fart, but they are make me laugh and make me happy.
I don’t breed classic English bulldogs, but olde bulldogs. Why? Because English bulldog are unhealthy, they have bad hips, they breathe like shit, they don’t support the heat and they only give birth by cesarean (the mom’s pelvis is too small for puppies’ heads). Breeding them is super expensive and very unealthy for the dogs.
So I found the olde bulldog, a healty breed. The dogs are athletic, can walk for hours, can give birth naturally, and are generally quite loving, but…….they are crazy. They don’t go well with other dogs and sometime other humans ☹
So I bought my first dog, Wallace, a male, descended from a lineage of champions. Great dog, greats hips, perfect structure, very athletic.
He is 4 years old now, but there’s a small issue with him. See, most showdogs breeders care about beauty and health, but not behaviour. Wallace is really agressive with strangers, especially with black people (he never undestood they’re not wearing helmets) and other animals (all animals, he already tried to attack horses, squirrels, birds, cats, dogs, cows and... pretty much any animal he sees on TV).
(He really hates Louis, one of my friends)
He only loves the people he knew when he was young. To make sure I don’t have any issues with him, I walk him early in the morning and he has a room for himself when I have visitors. I do my best to avoid human contact with him.
That’s where my job as a breeder starts. I have one of the best looking and healthy bulldogs out there. All the breeders are speechless at how Wallace is pefect, but they don’t know his crazy side as well as me. When I breed him, I have to choose a really well behavioured bitch. She has to be really calm, really sweet and really healthy too. I already refused between 8 breeding offers because the bitches were as crazy as him. I love money, but I want to be ethical. I ask around 1000$ for a breeding attempt and more if the bitch is too tall and I have to do artificial insemination.
Wallace is already the father of 76 puppies and they are all really calm and kind with humans because I chose the right females to breedd with.
It’s not always easy to be a dog breeder : people always complain about the price or the number of puppies, but in the end, I’m always happy when I look at the babies and how sweet they are.
I always try to stay in contact with people who own the babies of Wallace, to make sure that they grow up well, healthy and mentally stable.
You can ask me any questions about the breed, about dogs, about breeding, about dog behaviour and about my little crazy boy Wallace and especially about me ☺
