"The Library of Alexandria if it could never be burned down"
This is how Steemit was described to me by , and that is what brought me here.
My name is Mercies May, and I am a screenwriter and filmmaker.
I have worked professionally in film over the past five years, with one major film script
currently moving towards production in Sweden, and a modest stack of narrative music videos
produced largely in Minneapolis, MN making the rounds on the inter webs, and in the world of film festival.
Take this one for example:
Now, I don't claim to understand the vastness of Steem just yet, and I don't feel like I'm a part of the typical demographic to be an early adopter in this landscape; but I'm here anyway, and I can already tell this thing is veritable rabbit hole waiting for me to tumble down it.
And I will......
I am incredibly fascinated by the core concept/s behind this almost alien construct, and increasingly giddy about the chance to watch it evolve organically into whatever it will become---
I also recognize that this platform poses myriad opportunities to a creative like myself to interact with the greater world by exposing me to varied and diverse thought and material, while also housing the many varieties of content I generate-
So from where I am sitting (which in the interest of transparency, is currently a co-worker's sofa with terrible posture), Steem seems to me a grand experiment, and I'm excited to be here.
Please feel free to point me in any direction, as I am a stranger in this strange land.
I would love to hear anyone's thoughts about this emerging platform.
Any and all discussion welcome and appreciated.
