Hey howdy hey! My name is Hannah Kay, and I'm here to introduce myself to this new platform I've just recently discovered.
Sorry if that first sentence was a little too cheesy for you. I am quite literally a cowboy, so I felt I had to get a solid "howdy" in early on.
As you may have guessed by that picture and the the title of this post, I am a college student, and I am taking a class this semester exploring publishing creative content via blockchain. I have seriously limited knowledge about cryptocurrency/investing/math to be perfectly honest with you (I am studying communications for a reason), so I'm very excited to learn all I can in this kind of space.
Here's a shot of my creativity in action. Apparently I have a knack for closing my eyes in pictures. I'm currently studying at Oklahoma State University, and I love exploring all the hidden gems around here. In this picture I'm roving the top of Mt. Scott, a quaint but impressive peak situated in the southwest part of the state. I like the other romantics who have come before me am in awe of the beauty in nature, and I love capturing pieces of it when I can.
I knew I loved creating from the time I was a little kid, drawing portraits of my family members onto construction paper with blunt, waxy crayons. Nowadays, my mediums are a little more spruce (or at least I like to think so).
I've soaked up quite a bit of experience designing with flowers in my off-campus job, and I love seeing how much joy they bring to both the designer and the receiver.
My roommate is something of an artisan as well, and together we have both cluttered our home and pieced together some cool projects.
Creating and crafting to me is one of my greatest joys and past times. Setting a sander to a piece of furniture, or a brush to canvas lights a unique switch in my brain. I get into a trance-like state, totally absorbed in whatever project I have going on. It's a different kind of fun for me, and I'm very excited to share bits and pieces of this past time of mine with you all.
I'm creeping closer and closer to the midnight due date for this assignment, but I can't wrap this post up without telling you the most important thing about me.
I take so much joy in creating, but I take immeasurably more joy in the one who created me. I'm pretty proud of the aesthetic of that arrangement and the unique charm of that table, but those little things pale in comparison to the things my God has created.
I serve a God who created the heavens and the earth and the birds of the skies and the great mysteries of the seas and the flesh and bones and souls of you me and everyone else in this universe. I make decent grades and I take cool photos, but I'm also terribly broken in my sin. And it's crazy how my God meets me exactly where I am.
My God knew the brokenness we all share. He knows the depravity this world leaves us in, yet his love for us never ends. He came down from Heaven, took on a human body, experienced every great and terrible emotion we have, carried the weight of all of our sins by dying a horrible death on a cross, rose again defeating death, and ascended back to his heavenly place. But before he left this earth, he offered all people the promise of a restored relationship with himself.
I don't know your story, but my God does. I don't know your struggles, but I know that a relationship with Jesus Christ and forgiveness for all of your sins is waiting for you. He offers you his presence in the form of his spirit here on earth, and an eternity of unconditional love after we're done here. If you've never heard about him before, I'm begging you-let's talk! I can promise this is the best story and most beautiful picture of life you'll ever know.
I'm going to use this platform to post the fun little things I make and do over the course of this semester, and I hope I make a few friends over this site in the process. I hope you'll join me in this journey. Whether or not I make an A, I have a feeling we're all going to learn and see some neat stuff in the months to come.
