Hello, everybody! I hope you are all very well, my name is Nicole and I am 17 years old. I'm excited to make my first post on this platform, which took a few weeks to interact with some users through comments, as well as to find out what it has to offer. My good friend (he used to write under the name
) was the one who invited me to be part of Hive. Well, he explained a little bit about the dynamics in which it is managed and the commitment that one should have with the community and the platform in general. As I went deeper into the communities and the different feeds, I was amazed at the variety of topics that can be covered, there is always something new to learn in each post and I was attracted by the author-reader feedback, which is quite healthy and sincere.
To tell you a little more about me, I'm a senior at a technical school of visual arts, you could say I'm an artist, even if I don't have a degree yet that certifies it, hehe. I've been drawing since I can remember, I was always a very creative child who liked to draw on any surface that was free (yes, that included walls), but, it wasn't until I was ten years old that I took my first drawing class, and I knew then that art would be a passion that I would have for life.
A year and a half ago I participated in my first insitu (outdoors) drawing contest, which tested my artistic abilities in relation to other participants with a high degree of technique and talent. I was not victorious, however, I like to see things in a positive way, so I learned a lot from that experience. Since then I continue to participate in competitions in my town or region, currently, the competitions are online due to the confinement.
"La Asunción's perspective street", 2019. Winning work of the "Drawing" mention. Insitu drawing and painting contest.
I try to make my art reach as many people as possible, and I think Hive is an excellent way to do it; it is one more window to show a little bit of what I do, transmit whatever I want to express, motivate them to create, dream and be constant in what they want to do to achieve the desired goal. Most of my work has a focus on human anatomy. I am attracted by the shape of the body, the volumes that are formed under the skin according to the position of the model, the shadows that run through the muscles in opposition to the light... For me, the human body is beautiful and fascinating, regardless of the shape, size, or color it possesses.

I like to play with inventiveness. I usually let my imagination run wild and that results in interesting themes. I would say that I am a follower of the surrealist trend, I once read about it in class, and I was fascinated by the creativity of the different authors (De Chirico, Dalí, Magritte...) and how they offer a new (maybe a little bizarre) vision of the world around them.

As for the techniques I usually use, graphite, ink, watercolors and acrylics are my favorites. I've also made works in colored crayons, charcoals, oils (although I didn't love the experience...), and, currently I've tried drawing in digital. I'm sure I still have techniques to try and improve, but, I'm not afraid to make mistakes and keep growing as an artist.
"Homesickness", 2020, pencil on paper.
I'm very inspired by the artists I've followed in the few weeks I've been here. I feel that we all have something in common, and not just the fact that we have talent for drawing or painting; but that we are sensitive, creative beings and that we want to transmit some message or feeling through our art. It is inspiring to see how, despite the many setbacks that can occur on the way, these artists continue to put heart and soul into every stroke they make, they do not give up. In my opinion, that is the key to achieving whatever you set out to do in life, perseverance.

I think that's all for now, I really feel very excited to share a little bit of myself with you, maybe in the future I will consider writing other themes. I am Open to all kinds of advice, just let me know in the comments. We'll read you soon!
