This is me
I specialize in Oral Genealogy for African people, but with reference to Oral traditions worldwide. I have done extensive research of all ethnic and western oral traditions.
There is a difference between all African ethnic groups to determine linage and ancestral history...
Oral traditions are usually recited in either song or historical verse by traditional healers, tribal chiefs or clan chiefs, all of which I will later go into detail.
It can either be ascending that is starting with present or living persons, going generation by generation back to the original ancestor or progenitor, or descending starting with the earliest ancestor.
In some traditions the lineage is patrilineal, that is the male line or fathers lineage only in some cases the mothers lineage might be recorded depending on social standing or clan information, usually Nguni groups.
And others matrilineal which is the kinship to the mother or lineal line.
A few of the groups are bilineal.
