Hello everyone, my name is Jerry and I would like to introduce myself and my pictures.
I started photography in the most extreme environment and with some of the greatest challenges. I started photography underwater while scuba diving, where there is little light and when I started there was no automatic equipment to help with getting a good picture, it was all very manual.
After many years of scuba diving photography I moved onto safari and wildlife photography, which is the bulk of the photography you will see, posted here. I have visited Africa 8 times, having visited Kenya, Botswana, Namibia and South Africa each a couple of times. I visited the Chobe River and the Masai Mara & I visited Mala Mala and Sabi Sabi private game resorts.
As I purchased longer and longer lenses for my Safari trips, my interest in bird photography grew. Having a good long lens makes it easy to capture birds, but birds are a very frustrating animal to photograph because they will mostly fly off just as you get your picture framed up. I liked the challenge that bird photography gave me.
I hope that you will enjoy the photos I upload; they cover many years of work.
The equipment used was all Nikon. Early shots with a D70, later shots with 2 x D3 bodies. Mostly the long glass shots are using a 200-400mm lens, some later shots with a 200-500mm. Macro shots with a 60mm.
Just a small taste of what's coming. Thank you for taking your time to read my introduction will be looking forward to meeting new friends and bringing my best to the platform.
