AKIpress news agency is the first independent news agency in Kyrgyzstan. Formed in 2000 on the basis of the economic edition AKIpress.
AKIpress news agency was opened in 2000, when the "Commercial Information Agency" Kyrgyzstan "on June 19 registered the domain www.akipress.org. For some time the site worked in a test mode and was supported by the editorial board of the economic magazine AKIpress, which existed since the mid-1990s. After a while, the first non-governmental news agency in Kyrgyzstan began to function fully.
In 2002, the agency opened the first independent press center in the country.
The AKIKpress agency differs from the commercial orientation of its activity - AKIpress earns on paid access to the archives (the first four days all the news is freely available) and the sale of advertising space on its websites.
