Children are a gift. They are special and a very important part of the society. The manner & condition in which they grow up determines the influence they give to the society when they grow up to become adults. Children are a blessing from God and are worth appreciating. They might be little and naughty, might throw tantrums, can be stubborn at times, can get really annoying, dirty, rude – or whatever. But they have RIGHTS. And the basic right of childhood is the right to HAPPINESS. Happiness kinda covers everything else.

Childhood is a stage you only experience once in your lifetime; you only get one chance to be a child – so how about living the moment to the fullest. It’s the only right they have, and they deserve it. As adults, especially in this part of the world, we enjoy the fundamental rights of humans. But due to the rate of corruption in our dear country, sometimes we get denied of some of these rights at certain points in time – like when you own a land & the government tries to claim it or when the police officers try to extort money from you for no reason; when things like these happen – we all get really pissed, frown faces & look biter, raining curses on those in authority because we feel oppressed, even when its for a short time.
Have you ever thought of what it would feel like if you were denied of the only right you have…for your entire lifetime…and you don’t have the power to do anything about it because you are not mature enough?!
In this part of the world, orphanages are constructed for children who are orphans – without parents. I don’t know what your childhood was like but I definitely can’t imagine mine without them. Most of these kids get there as a result of a mistake of their parents – probably teenage love that led to unwanted pregnancy. The mothers just give birth & dump them in the hospital, some in the bushes or even in the gutters. Some are there due to domestic violence in their home – probably Dad died, Mom got arrested; Some are there due to the unfortunate death of their parents at very tender ages – extended family refused to adopt the and they are sent to homes for orphans. And the most painful of all worst case scenarios – some are abandoned due to the disabilities or deformities at birth; like its their fault!. Most times, this is caused by the unhealthy lifestyles of the mothers during the gestation period.
All-in-all, these are the leaders of tomorrow. They grow up in terrible conditions not suitable for a normal child to grow up in. They are deprived of the only right they have - THE RIGHT TO BE HAPPY. The future of an entire generation is crippled; to make matters worse – orphanages in the country have become GRAs (Government REJECTED Areas). Due to low maintenance & funding, the children don’t get the care & love they deserve. How will these kids cope when they are released to the outside world with kids who have been showered with so much love & affection?. How do we show them that we care in our own little way?!
WHAT IS THE FETCH INITIATIVE
FETCH is an acronym for Feed That Child. This initiative was built on steem love – the love revolving round the blockchain. Initiated by three young steemians (emphasis on the word - young), the objective is to extend the love outside the steem blockchain through their earnings from Steemit to those who are less priviledged. The kids who stay in the orphanages don’t know what it feels like to be loved & appreciated – they believe all they have is each other. The FETCH INITIATIVE is one designed to reach out to these kids & show them what steem love feels like - selfless. The love on the blockchain is mind-blowing & we all know that, that’s what still keeps us here. But what about those outside the walls of the blockchain?. What about those not opportuned to be on planet Steem?. For these kids, there's almost nothing they can do about their situation. The brains behind this initiative desire to extend hands & reach out to these kids to show them we care. You never know what the future holds.
You don’t have to possess a fortune before you give!

In fact if you wait till you have a fortune, you might never give!. Look in history... alright that's a bit too far - look at all the whales & successes on Steemit, they have all sacrificed and given in one way or the other. You can argue all you want but that's the truth. You can't receive with your fists tight. You have to let go what's in your hand to cfeate space for what you want to receive
