Brownie points if you can name the movie I just quoted.
Hey what’s up? I’m Alykhan. My friends call me AlyG.
I'm a number cruncher by day, author and blogger by night.
I write about practical ways to lose weight, improve your health and fitness, take control of your finances, be more productive, and enjoy life. My ideas will resonate with you if you’re an introvert, health nerd, minimalist, systematic thinker, or any combination of these.
Believe it or not, I hated writing growing up. I've always been more of a numbers person.
I was born in Nairobi, Kenya to an Indian father and Japanese mother. So, it’s safe to say math runs in my blood.
In 2006, I graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering only to realize I had no interest in becoming an engineer. To be honest, I'm still not sure exactly what I want to do.
Here's a pic of me at the Great Rift Valley in my homeland of Kenya.
My ultimate goal is to excel in the areas of my life that I care about the most, which is why I began writing.
The writing process helps me refine ideas and gain clarity on what works. It’s an exercise in self-awareness that I practice primarily for my own benefit. But if I can use it to help others along the way, then that’s even better.
Everyone has their own journey to navigate. I’m navigating mine the only way I know how: using my analytical mind.
I've learned a lot so far, but I've still got plenty more to learn. I don't have all the answers, but I’m here to help and add value to your life in any way I can.
I don’t want to promise you the world. I just want to share what works for me. Maybe it will work for you too and we’ll both be 1% better than we were yesterday.
James Altucher, one of my favorite authors, always says “Buddha was the greatest marketer of all time."
The reason for this is that he wasn’t a pushy salesman. He told people, “This is what worked for me. I’m not saying it will work for you, but try it for yourself and see.”
That’s how I like to operate.
More stuff about me:
I am the author of Calorie Counting Made Easy. This book teaches you everything you need to know about how to set a weight loss goal and use MyFitnessPal to lose weight counting calories in less than five minutes a day.
My writing has been viewed over 300,000 times on Quora in topics ranging from health, fitness, and weight loss to personal finance, productivity, and self-improvement.
I'm a spreadsheet maven with a decade of high-stakes number crunching experience in the health insurance industry. I use Excel to analyze large data sets and solve complex business problems.
I'm a self-improvement junkie. I’m obsessed with finding ways to make my life better. Relying heavily on my introspective and analytical tendencies, I currently track every calorie I eat and every dollar I earn and spend.
I'm a lifelong student. I’m always learning and growing in the areas I care about. One of the best ways to learn is to teach what I know. I share everything I possibly can that might be useful to others on this site.
If you’ve read this far, you probably already know more about me than most people.
I’m an extreme introvert, so I keep my inner-circle pretty small. But I love to connect with people who have similar interests, which is why I'm publishing content.
Now, I want to get to know you too. So, I’m going to ask you for a favor.
Let me know what you need help with right now in the realm of weight loss, health and fitness, personal finance, productivity, self-improvement, writing, or introversion.
I’d love to help you out or maybe even create a blog post to answer your question.
Feel free to leave a comment if you have any questions or just wanna say hi.
Talk soon,
AlyG
P.S. I’m new to cryptocurrencies, but I'm very interested in learning more and getting my feet wet. Steemit seems like a great place to do that, so here I am!
