It seems like it took forever to get my profile approved but I’m finally here writing on my very own Steemit page! My first post! My page and profile are like virgin snow. There are so many interesting people on this site doing cool and fascinating things and I am so very excited to become part of this community.
A little about me and what I hope to contribute to this online platform:
My name is Amanda Richards and I am from Portland, OR. I have largely built my life around writing and performing music. I’ve won a few awards and had some nods here and there from well respected people/publications/organizations. I’ve released half a dozen albums and scored a few independent films and documentaries. I just finished writing a raunchy country musical that I hope to put up in the next few months called Whiskey Dixie & The Big Wet Country.

Once a year my band and I also do a live performance of my album Play Dead, which is all old school country songs about the zombie apocalypse written from the perspective of the last person on Earth who happens to be a country singer and a feminist.
My “day job” is being a self-employed henna artist at one of the largest outdoor markets in the country, Portland Saturday Market. I LOVE Henna and I plan to share many pics and posts here but I also love acting, writing, doing crafty projects and making things “pretty.” I’m also an amateur herbalist, intuitive, tarot card reader and well, to put it frankly, I’m a witch. So, everything I do has a bit of a macabre filter on it. I guess I’m kind of a witchy Martha Stewart type renaissance woman.

I hope to share with you some of my music, shorts stories, poetry, artwork, videos, philosophy, magic and cute cat pictures (I have the cutest cat, seriously). One of my core values is rooted in authenticity and I hope that if anything I can bring that to the table as well. Lets be real, shall we?
Me and my Guatemalan fur baby, Mincho. Today I am calling him Buttson or Butter Boi.
Frankly, I can’t emphasize enough how thrilled I am to be here. I look forward to building a cool online community and I can’t wait to meet you all.
xoxo,
Amanda
