Cześć
Hi, Polish is my native language and I find it valuable to share with you some information about it. I have prepared a few curiosities:
Did you know Polish is one of the hardest to learn languages in the world? Of course it depends on your ethnic origin, native language, skills and other things but there are not impossible things if only you want.
Polish contains 32 letters, in opposite of English has 9 additional letters:
ą, ć, ę, ł, ń, ó, ś, ź, ż
Polish's vocabulary took after about 12 other languages vocabulary.
There not exists letters like
q, v, x
Polish had influence on 9 other languages.
Tails in
ą, Ą, ę, Ę
are called "ogonki".
And on the end a few polish words and phrases:
*pierogi - dumplings
*frytki - chips (In Poland we call [for ex. Lays] Crisps as "chips(y)" and fries as "frytki")
*bułka z masłem - a piece of cake (exactly: "roll with butter" :))
*nie ma mowy - no way ("there is not speech")
*rzucić okiem - have a look ("throw an eye" :D))
*upiec dwie pieczenie na jednym ogniu - kill two birds with one stone ("roast two pieces of meat on one fire")
I hope my post was interesting and probably soon I will public next article.
