Hello Steemit Community!
This is my #introduceyourself post...
“Hola” “Jambo” “Salut” “Buongiorno” "Dia is muire dhuit” “Chào” “Merhaba” "Goeie dag” "Nín hao” “Geia!” “Hej" "Ahlan bik" "Zdravo" "sain baina uu" "Szia" "Namaste" "Adaab arz hai" "Hallo"
My name is Kevin and I’m a traveler from Canada. Recently I attended George Brown College in Toronto for a “Hospitality, Tourism & Leisure” diploma program and I believe I was the only student in my class to graduate receiving the Dean’s List award. I was blessed to grow up in British Columbia, a province on the West Coast of Canada that’s slogan is “Super Natural British Columbia” - BC really does kick-ass when it comes to all of the super natural wonders it is home to.
I’ve tried living a ‘normal’ life, although I’m anything but normal. For me, trying to be normal really was like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole… it just never was going to work. This past year… my 35th time spinning around the sun I decided to stop playing it safe… starting to take risks and do things that really scared me.
I sold almost all of my personal belongings, dropped off a few boxes of personal items to my parents house, and then moved to Florida to seek employment on luxury yachts - one of my dreams! That didn’t go exactly as I had hoped it would so with my last few dollars I booked a ticket to Mexico and found some tech work that I can do remotely for an Adventure Travel Magazine for Parents. More about yachting and my new job will be left for future posts… but this gives you an idea of my recent history. I’m currently living in Playa Del Carmen with 25 pesos to my name as I await my first cheque! (don’t worry - I have shelter, food, clean drinking water and wifi!)
Anyone who knows me can attest that for the past 4 years I haven’t been able to stop talking about Mexico… I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT HERE!!! I even came here in April/May of 2017 for a month, traveling pretty extensively around the country scouting potential areas I might like to live in. After my trip, I didn’t know how I would possibly make money while I was in Mexico so I never took the leap. Some things happen for a reason, and my ‘failure’ in yachting ultimately got me exactly where I wanted to be - in Mexico! Funny how things work out some times!

Personal Mission Statement
My life's mission is to fall completely in love with myself and inspire others to fully love themselves and live the life of their dreams. My personal journey involves exploring every corner of the earth, meeting with and learning from people of all different cultures, and lastly to never stop challenging myself to do things that I thought weren’t possible.
What really inspires me is seeing other people living their lives so completely in line with exactly who they are meant to be, knowing exactly what their purpose here on earth is all about. You know those people right? They can be quirky, or weird… but they’re usually intensely passionate about what they do and they are completely happy and fulfilled doing it. I strive to live my life so authentically that people are inspired by me just being myself. I think I already do this to an extent but I don’t give myself the credit I deserve.
Travel - Powered by Steem?
So… where do we go from here? I feel so blessed to have discovered this community in it’s infancy - can you imagine where we’ll be in a few years after working closely together to create a thriving community of Steemians?! The way I intend to contribute to the community is to share my travel experiences with others and give practical travel advice. I'll do this in hopes that I can inspire at least one other person to go out into the world and have their eyes opened to the miracles and wonder that awaits them beyond their home town. I believe that travel is healing, in a sense that it opens our minds and reveals certain ‘truths’ to us. Because of this, our belief systems start to change as what we thought to be true has now been challenged by seeing things from a new perspective in other cultures.
I will strive to find balance in collecting Steem Power, and cashing out when needed to assist me with my travels. I aim to be here for the long-haul, and my hope is that by sharing my love of Mexico with all of you, and providing you with valuable content that can help you make great choices for your next trip to Mexico, I can eventually earn an income that can support future travels and adventures. As seen in the photo below, steam used to power steamboats and steam trains, so why not have things come full circle and have ‘steem’ power my travels?
Wrapping up
Being new here, I don’t know too many people… so I invite you all to say “Hello” or “Hola” or whatever greeting you may use if you’re from a different country! If you want to get to know me more, give me a ‘Follow’ or write a comment down below. If you have any advice or tips on how to be successful within our community, I welcome your thoughts. Finally… if there are people in this community that you think would love my post, tag them in a comment so they can find this post and discover me!
There's obviously so much more to know about me, but this was just meant to be an introduction. I'll save something to talk about for next time!
p.s. One last thing…
@Steemfest looks like it was a blast and I fully intend on going to the next one! So excited to hear where it will be in 2018! Hopefully I can meet some of the following Steemians who were invited to speak at the last event (and maybe even be invited to speak alongside them at the next event):
