Steemit Intro Post
Hi Steemians!
My name is Azalia and I’m super excited to join the comm!
One of my 2018 wishes is to create and share content about my greatest passion: photography, and some other topics ;) So when the friend of a friend, told me about this comm, I thought “this is the ideal place to share what I want to write and what I photograph”.
So, who the hell am I?
I’m Azalia and I live in La Guaira, a coast town located at 17 minutes of the most dangerous city of the world: Caracas, also known as Rotten Town.
My “real life job” is killing me, it was great 10 years ago, today I’m burned out, so I’m trying to move on… so what’s keeping me in that particular hellhole? My country is living the most horrific crisis in its contemporary history, the tale is so freaking long (almost 20 years on the making) that I’m not going to bore you to death with it (not yet), nevertheless I’m in the process of moving on, finding a job near home to try to be happy and more calmed, a difficult task in this living nightmare that has become “the Bolivarian socialism of XXI century” AKA the freaking communism! But more of that hellish experience later…
In Latinamerica we love Melodrama (not Lorde’s – even though I love that amazing album and her-), so naturally I’m a lot dramatic, pessimistic and sarcastic, but another one of my dreams for 2018 is to become more of a positive person, to experience the light rather than the darkness… It’s an amazing feat living in this hellish country, but it’s also a way to survive mentally, so when I started to read about all the positive vibes of and the community, it encourages following that path…
As I already mentioned I’m a photographer, I consider myself a documentary one, being my fortitude the street photography. Right now I’m trying different media such as videos and leaning more towards conceptual and visual art. However I breathe street with a core need to record what’s happening here, to leave evidence of this dark times. Also I’ve worked in the downtown of the most dangerous city of the world for more than 10 years, and I’ve photographed how’s life in this part of Caracas and I’ll share some of that experience with you guys :)
What type of content will I be posting?
Photography:
I would like to share some things I’ve learned, especially in the streets, I would like to show you how it is done here with #StreetCaribe
Highlights will include:
- Street photography in the most dangerous city in the world
- Leading photowalks in the most dangerous city in the world
- My slowly descent into alcoholism, oops! I meant my slowly descent into conceptual photography and that includes how to create a homemade studio!
- Short photo essays about different places and people here in Venezuela
Venezuela’s Memories:
We’re living a hellish situation, I’m not exaggerating but also I’ve lived some pretty awesome experiences in diverse places of my country. I would like to share with you these memories through my pics…
The apocalypse AKA tropical communism:
My personal experience living in a communist system that supposedly is socialist, but it’s a lie, everything it’s a freaking lie.
Highlights will include:
- The craziest currency exchange regime. 15 years in the making and still counting…
- Is it true the hyperinflation?
- Is it true you can live like a millionaire with only $ 100?
- How do we survive this continuous communist apocalypse?
- Are there people making purses with bolívares (our national bills)? (Yep! That’s happening!)
And more, trust me, there’s A LOT more…
Reviews
I’m a very opinionated person but also I take a lot of time to watch movies and TV shows, so I’ll review old stuff regarding these topics.
- I love romance novels and will do some reviews of new and old books.
- I’ll also review and post about Venezuelan photobooks, one of the most guarded secrets of Latinamerican photography.
- If you’d like, I will review one of your pictures or photo essays.
And so much more!
I'm looking forward to getting to know you all in the Steemit community <3
P.S.: English is my second language, so pardon me any typo or bad grammar </3
