who am i and what do i do?
My name is Bee Vo and I am a professional web developer. I write code mainly for the web using technologies such as PHP, HTML, CSS, Jquery, SQL, and a list of others. As far as education, I received a degree from Louisiana State University (GEAUX TIGERS!) in 2014 in Computer Science with a concentration in software engineering. Challenges in programming and building new applications really gets me very excited. I also have a real passion for teaching so I intend on posting guides and tutorials that can get people started writing code.
poker player?
Poker was always a fascinating game. During my time in college, we would get a few guys together, grab a few beers, and play No-Limit Texas Hold'em. I always revelled in the challenge of the game and wanted to play more. Naturally, I found online poker. Being able to play any time of the day grew my passion and that lead to me getting quite good at the game. Although No-Limit Texas Hold'em was my first game, my favorite game of poker is a game called Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-lo split (more on that in a later post).
how did i get into crypto?
It's funny how my passions seem to lead to other passions. I first heard of bitcoin when I was in college around the time that the Silk Road was busted. Me and my roommate were baffled about "internet money." Being that I was a computer science student, I was drawn to the idea but beyond that, I never gave it much thought until years later. This is where poker comes in. The real money poker site I was playing on allowed Bitcoin transactions for deposits and withdrawals. This was a big deal to me as their previous methods were slow and often shady. After my first withdrawal into a Circle wallet, I noticed that the USD value of my bitcoins grew 20% in a week! Of course seeing my money "grow" like that got me excited and I wanted to learn more about what bitcoin was. This sparked my interest in the cryptocurrency space as a whole. I have a vast knowledge on the economics, technological, and social implications of crypto. It really is a game changer. Making the world a better place is tossed around a lot in the tech space, but I truly believe that blockchain technology has that potential!
steemit
My goals for steemit is to write about what I know. I have been wanting to start blogging on programming, poker, and crypto and stumbled on steemit. I am intrigued and hopeful about this platform. With some hard work, I want to do my part in building this community to it's potential!
I have several ideas of topics I want to write about, but if you have any suggestions, I am open to them! Leave a comment below.
