Hello! I have been wanting to start a blog about my hobbies for a long time. I even bought a url and was about to make my first post on there today but last second, I stopped myself. The reason is because I want to make my blog completely Steemit-based in the hopes that this will draw more people that enjoy following DIY blogs to Steemit!
I have been on Steemit for about 8 months now and I can't help but notice that there aren't many girls on here; kind of like Reddit. I know the unspoken consensus is "guys have Reddit and girls dominate Pinterest." These are just the demographic facts of these particular websites.
However, if we want Steemit to become the next big thing, we have to create content that appeals to both sexes. I do think there already is a LOT of great content on here, but I want to broaden the horizon to include more than cryptocurrency as the main talked-about topics. I envision this site to operate like Tumblr where you can search a topic and get a whole stream of posts from bloggers you can then choose to follow.
Not hating on crypto. In fact, I am an avid cryptocurrency trader myself, and have been for more than a year. That is what first drew me to Steemit: I was swing-trading Steem back in the day. But now I am acknowledging the potential Steemit has and the positive impact it could have on the community. For those who are unaware about what Steemit is, it is a platform where creators are paid via upvotes for the content they create. They are not paid directly in US dollars, but in Steem Power and Steem Dollars which can then can then be converted to Steem then usd or held long-term to accumulate interest. If you are interested in learning more, I encourage you to look up other posts on this platform about how steemit works-I could dedicate a whole post explaining this so I don't want to get fully into it right now. BUT, what I'm trying to get at is: this could be an opportunity for/answer to those wanting to pursue their passion and be able to profit off of it via blogging/freelancing/vlogging(dtube!). That is what I am trying to do myself.
I am 22 years old and I graduated with a double major in microbiology and animal science. Next step was looking like vet school (and still is in the plans down the road) but all through college I couldn't suppress my urge to create things. I made everything from handmade soaps (my favorite, and #1 thing I will be blogging most about) to making jewelry to refinishing furniture to crocheting to quilting. However, I hardly had the time to do these things that I loved & which were my stress relievers because I went to a competitive school and had to finish nearly double the credits in the usual 4 year span. So I am taking some time off to pursue this passion of mine- I sell my handcrafted products at farmer's markets, specialty stores, and gift shops and am loving every second of it. I had to take this time off from school to express my creativity or else I was going to explode. Now I hope to share my hobbies with others and hopefully inspire others to do the same. I truly believe we were all given a talent and are meant to share that talent with other people.
SO, since I don't have many followers this probably won’t get seen by many but every great adventure begins with one step so here I go. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my intro and please follow if you are interested in keeping up with my quest :)
Here are examples of some of the soap-making techniques I'll be sharing in my how-tos!:

PS! I just put some soaps in my Etsy shop & I happily accept cryptocurrency SO if you're interested in purchasing that way, message me @ bohemianbearsoaps@gmail.com and I'll give you my wallet address :)
