Welcome aboard! Definitely be keeping an eye on the new network you're working on. I think it's awesome that you've decided to pivot into incorporating Steem as your backend. I see so many sites across the web that could do the same and benefit themselves and Steem mutually!
There's a Steemit Poker League in it's infancy playing at bluffave.com and the mixture of Steem and games is already intoxicating. That site has player blogs, forums, etc. and apparently there's already outreach to get them to just run it all on the blockchain!
I see a great future for brands joining Steem and putting their marketing budget to work on buying a stake that will allow them to reward their fans and commenters with votes and contests and it seems like you're headed that direction.
