Hello Steemians! I found Steemit when one of my friends recommended it to me as a platform to exhibit some of my work, something I was on the lookout for. So this is my debut post, a sort of introduction.
Now to the topic of the post, namely Me!!
Who am I ?
To put it ‘Bond’-esquely, the name is Chandy, Chandy Mathew. Now you must be going,”Chandy? What does that mean?” Its the translation in my native language, Malayalam of the name of one of the world’s greatest conquerors- Alexander the great .
I have 21 years of experience on the planet, my skills include socializing with other animals, humans included, expressing emotions, and a certain amount of sporting experience.
In a nutshell, I am a student, an engineer, a writer, a thinker and a global citizen.
As a student of engineering I’ve learnt many things, the most important being that,“Dreams are like air. You can never have enough of it, and if you don’t have it, well you die.” It has also taught me the importance of facts, there’s nothing more dangerous to a student than half baked information.
My twitter and Quora bios read,” Student by day, Writer by night”, which makes me sound like some kind of vigilante, which would be extremely cool, unfortunately I’m not. That’s a job best left to the professionals- GO BATMAN!!
So what do I do? I am what I call a wordsmith. I weave threads that in turn become dreams. My words are my weapon and my shield. Its been a lifelong dream to see my name on a paperback cover, something that I hope gets fulfilled soon (Fingers crossed).
A little something I wrote.
Some would say I have the wanderlust, maybe they're right. I do love to explore new places, new things, new cuisines and of course meet new people. They always give me the best matter for my literature, all of them from Tibetan monks on vacation or Bushu the runaway labrador and even an Australian backpacking in Kerala and the many people I hope to meet on Steem.
Although I’m not an athlete by any means, I do play the occasional game of cricket . I do bowl a mean pace! But the sport that people associate me is football. Football is in many ways my religion, either that or as my family like to say an obsession. It must be to wake up at odd hours of the night just to watch my team play.
Me Likey?
Books and more books. The more I read the happier I am. Its not at all rare to find me with a book in hand or even an e-book. Wilbur Smith, Jeffrey Archer, Manu Joseph, Dan
Brown, Fredrick Forsyth are my companions of choice, as we explore a world of our own. Give me a thriller and you’ll lose me for the rest of the day. I have dabbled it in fanfiction, giving my own twist to the Harry Potter series. Expecting my Hogwarts letter any day now!
What I'm reading right now.
India reels out a rather large share of the moves released worldwide, with a substantial following for the same globally. So it is no surprise that a portion of my day goes past either watching movies or Tv series like Stranger Things, FRIENDS, Sherlock …….. Language is no barrier when viewing movies as long as the content is good be it english, hindi, malayalam or even Korean. Our Indian content is up there with the world’s best after all everyone knows Bollywood and Shahrukh Khan.
Chelsea football club, London is my team, has been for a decade and will be till my last breath. #Blue is the Color #COYB
I do like to get my hands dirty in the kitchen once in a while, experimenting with Indian cuisine. I would include a picture but my attempts have yet to see success, maybe in the near future.
Do I have a political view ? Of course, I do. You can’t grow up in a politically charged country like India without having a few opinions, which you should express in a healthy way. My politics is neither left, right nor centrist. It supports those who want to help the common man not exercise their views on the masses. It would also help if they didn’t have a “ I’m holier than thou” attitude.
An asset that I would like to develop further are my oratory skills. Debates, speeches, extempore even recitals are some of my favorite events. If I could chosen another job arc, it would have been journalism, which could still happen.
In all this, I have forgotten to mention where I’m from. I am an Indian, specifically put, from Kerala, what one would call a Malayali.
Well, I hope that gave you guys an insight into my psyche. Hope you guys liked it and look forward to your comments and reactions. I will be posting my work on various topics following this. Steemit seems to be a really exciting prospect.
