My name is Ben and I am writing to you from the Philippines. I moved here 1 year ago from Hawaii. There are many pro's and con's about living here, compared to USA, and many new things to learn. one of the things I want to tell you about..
what does Chinito mean? and why did I choose that as my steemit name?
accoding to the urban dictionary:
Spanish, literally meaning "little Chinese boy" vs Chino which excludes the -ito ending.. Chinito/Chinita is commonly used toward Asians (primarily those of known or assumed Chinese decent) and other non Asian races and cultures who may have characterisics (esp physical) that aré typically considered Asiatic.
see, the philippines was under Spanish rule for a long time so lots of the language and culture were adopted. Today's meaning has morphed into more of a way of describing a guy (or girl--chinita) who has that Chinese look. I think there is also a secondary condition in order to be called chinito and that is that your chinese features need to produce a nice effect. (I'm trying to be humble and say how it refers to being cute or downright handsome)
Here are a few examples:
I learned about chinto from this music video.. probably the best way to explain it and no words really needs to be said.
ps. As to why I chose 'chinito' as my steemit name.. because I am half Chinese / half caucasion and think I qualify. :P
