I live with and care for my grandma who is a true farm girl and has had me in her kitchen baking since I could walk! This means all my recipes are from scratch!
I live in a rural metro - yea, it’s an oxymoron, I know. It is however the best of both worlds, I mean 5 blocks north is downtown and 5 blocks south there are donkeys for sale!! 🙂
Have you heard of corncob jelly? It’s my son’s favorite and I recently canned him about 8 pints! He loves this stuff on cornbread and says it tastes like honey!
Recently I watched a few guys butcher a pig! I helped by cutting the hooves off. I was intrigued with the process but didn’t get much contact because I didn’t want to mess something up. I prefer to learn by watching AND THEN getting my hands dirty!
I also love experimenting in the kitchen. I’m a huge nerd and there is nothing better than chemistry in the kitchen! Here is some pear bread I made just last night for the very first time! Thankfully I doubled the recipe because this stuff is delicious! I highly recommend it!
