Hello Steemians!
Many greetings from the desk of the Chaiwaladda!
Having exhausted a bunch of emails, phone numbers and preferred usernames in the attempt to sign-up, eventually managed to get in. The hiccup was related to non-delivery of OTP. Keeping that aside, it feels great to be here and looking forward to be a valuable part of this burgeoning community! :D
Signing in, the first thing I went over was the Quick Start Guide. As per its suggestion, here I am, introducing myself.
I am Rhitwik (Ṛtvik) from India, a 29-year-old Mechanical Engineering graduate with a passion for writing and digital art. I don’t necessarily call myself a crypto-enthusiast, but it cannot be denied that this particular inclination has brought me to Steemit. I had signed up almost a year back, but never got to spin the car out of the garage. Also, lost access to that account. So, there is an orphaned account somewhere in the recesses of Steemit. :P
In this account, I decided to present myself as part of the Chaiwaladda team. It is an undertaking of mine in association with two of my friends. I like to browse and read up with no sense of discrimination of topics. And I enjoy writing. This endeavor, that started as a self-indulgence, has taken on more of a defined form and collective intent. We went online earlier this month, April 2018. So, we are still not out of our diapers and as such, hope this Steemit community will be forgiving enough of any shortcomings. :)
About Chaiwaladda
We wanted to keep our topics of interest broad and open. That called for a befitting title for the website. And for some reason that I cannot specifically recollect, we had an Indian audience in mind. In this spirit of things, we zeroed in on Chai-wala-adda. Chai is Hindi for tea. Chai-wala is a Tea-seller. Here, Adda refers to a place where people gather for a conversation while sipping their favorite beverage. Thus, the name refers to the convenient space for conversation around a tea-stall. Indian cities, towns and villages are littered with tea-vendors at every nook and corner.

A snippet from our About Page
Great conversations and discussions happen when people gather for a cup of tea, near the corner chai-wala. These conversations can range from the mundane to the most interesting, from the meaningless to the ones replete with life-changing values.
The three of us hail from the North-eastern Indian state of Assam. A beautiful valley situated within the basin of the rivers, the mighty Brahmaputra and the Barak. A lovely place with scenic rolling green hills; still relatively untouched by pollution. It is a major producer and exporter of tea. Huge stretches of lands are blanketed by Tea-plantation estates. Another factor that influenced our choice of name.
The best attitude to have is to expect to make nothing. Have fun. Get engaged. Make friends. If along the way you earn something - bonus!
A little excerpt from the Steemit guide that aptly defines the expectations and the aspiration to have as a newbie. We intend to “steem” on in that very spirit. Some much needed Steem for our cups of chai! :)
It’s a wrap.
P.S I just hope that I am able to sustain the level of enthusiasm with which I wrote this post. :D
