Mi nombre es Dayana, Nací en el norte de Sur América específicamente en Caracas la Capital de Venezuela. Soy la segunda en la línea de nacimiento de tres hermanos, todos con la misma herencia genética. Hija de padres amorosos que me enseñaron a creer en el Dios Todopoderoso Jehová y a respetar al prójimo. Su presencia y guía en mi vida sin duda ayudaron a forjar mi personalidad.
My name is Dayana, I was born in the north of South America specifically in Caracas the capital of Venezuela. I am the second in the birth line of three brothers, all with the same genetic heritage. Daughter of loving parents who taught me to believe in the Almighty God Jehovah and to respect others. Their presence and guidance in my life undoubtedly helped to shape my personality.
La infancia, mi innato interés por cuidar del prójimo y a los animales/ Childhood, my innate interest in caring for others and animals
Mi infancia la viví a plenitud. La mejor de las épocas: inocencia, diversión, escuela, simplemente: Felicidad! Desde temprana edad sentí la necesidad de querer cuidar y resguardar la salud de los demás. Si alguien se lastimaba yo lo curaba, si alguien se sentía mal yo lo cuidaba.
I lived my childhood to the fullest. The best of times: innocence, fun, school, simply: Happiness! From an early age I felt the need to want to care for and protect the health of others. If someone got hurt I would cure them, if someone felt bad I would take care of them.
Ese innato deseo de querer ayudar a otros fue determinante en que decidiera estudiar Enfermería al concluir la Secundaria. Sin embargo, desde joven también he sentido pasión por el cuidado de los animales y he sido proteccionista de animales desde la adolescencia.
That innate desire to want to help others was a determining factor in her decision to study nursing after high school. However, since I was young, I have also had a passion for caring for animals and have been an animal protectionist since I was a teenager.
Siento un genuino y profundo respeto por todos los seres vivos. Todos somos co-habitantes en este planeta y de nuestra existencia depende mantener el equilibrio en el eco-sistema.
I have a genuine and deep respect for all living things. We are all co-inhabitants of this planet and it is up to us to maintain the balance in the eco-system.
Estoy muy consciente de que los humanos somos los grandes responsables de cuidar a nuestra raza y a toda la creación en la tierra porque poseemos inteligencia-analítica y el poder de actuar con raciocinio lo que nos diferencia de los animales y otras criaturas vivas.
I am well aware that we humans are largely responsible for caring for our race and all of creation on earth because we possess analytical intelligence and the power to act rationally which differentiates us from animals and other living creatures.
Mis estudios Universitarios/ My university studies
Estudie Enfermería con disciplina y pasión partiendo desde el propedéutico, pasando por el Técnico, la Licenciatura y finalmente la Especialización en Cuidados Intensivos. Fui la primera de mi promoción y la mejor en las evaluaciones de desempeño en mi ejercicio profesional.
I studied Nursing with discipline and passion, starting from the propaedeutic, going through the Technical, the Bachelor and finally the Specialization in Intensive Care. I was first in my class and the best in performance evaluations in my professional practice.
La Unidad De Cuidados Intensivos Una Pasión/ The Intensive Care Unit A Passion
Trabaje en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos de Adultos durante 17 años. En ese lapso de tiempo ejercí roles distintos y por tiempos variables. Fui enfermera asistencial, docente y administrativa. Viví múltiples experiencias profesionales pero todas tenían como epicentro el Cuidado del paciente críticamente enfermo.
I worked in the Adult Intensive Care Unit for 17 years. In that time I played different roles and for varying lengths of time. I was a care nurse, teacher and administrator. I lived through multiple professional experiences but all had as their epicenter the Care of the Critically ill Patient.
Es indescriptible la enorme satisfacción que se siente al proporcionar cuidados de enfermería a un ser humano que se encuentra gravemente enfermo, cooperando activa y positivamente en su lucha por la vida.
The enormous satisfaction felt in providing nursing care to a seriously ill human being is indescribable, actively and positively cooperating in their struggle for life.
Tengo muchos recuerdos en mi memoria, algunos realmente impactantes, la mayoría con finales felices y una minoría con finales tristes. Experiencias únicas que viví en Las Unidades de Cuidados Intensivos en donde tuve la oportunidad de ejercer mi profesión.
I have many memories in my mind, some really shocking, most with happy endings and a minority with sad endings. Unique experiences that I lived in the Intensive Care Units where I had the opportunity to practice my profession.
El impacto de la Crisis en Venezuela y una decisión de Vida/The impact of the Crisis in Venezuela and a decision of Vida
En Venezuela la crisis económica y social ha impactado negativamente en la calidad de vida de los profesionales de la salud, lamentablemente la mayoría de mis colegas y compañeros han emigrado del país, hace dos años y medio yo renuncié a la Coordinación de la Terapia Intensiva en donde trabajaba también con la intención de Emigrar, pero algo inesperado sucedió.
In Venezuela the economic and social crisis has negatively impacted the quality of life of health professionals, unfortunately most of my colleagues and colleagues have emigrated from the country. Two and a half years ago I resigned from the Intensive Care Coordination where I also worked with the intention of emigrating, but something unexpected happened.
El suceso imprevisto y Cambio de Planes/ The Unexpected Event and Change of Plans
Como personal de salud cometí un error que es muy frecuente entre nosotros, me ocupe en cuidar de la salud de otros y en el proceso descuide mi salud. Victima del estrés del momento y del descuido de pronto me tocó vivir la enfermedad en carne propia.
As a health care worker I made a mistake that is very common among us, I got busy taking care of the health of others and in the process neglected my health. Victim of the stress of the moment and the neglect, I suddenly had to live the illness in my own flesh.
Luego de una rectificación de Columna cervical no atendida entre otras causas me tocó enfrentarme a la Capsulitis Adhesiva Bilateral. Una afección que limita gravemente la movilidad de las articulaciones en mi caso de los brazos y que genera un terrible dolor de día intensificándose durante la noche.
After an unattended cervical spine rectification, among other causes, I had to face the Bilateral Adhesive Capsulitis. A condition that severely limits the mobility of the joints in my case of the arms and that generates a terrible pain during the day intensifying at night.
Mis planes de vida cambiaron / My life plans changed
Mi prioridad ya no era emigrar, mi prioridad era Recuperar la salud. Estuve discapacitada, bajo tratamiento médico y en rehabilitación física durante un año y cuatro meses.
My priority was no longer to emigrate, my priority was to regain my health. I was disabled, under medical treatment and in physical rehabilitation for one year and four months.
En ese lapso de tiempo me tocó enfrentar mi nueva realidad un día a la vez. Me re-invente, decidí ocuparme en resolver como generar nuevos ingresos con mis limitaciones físicas y al mismo tiempo busque actividades que me ayudaban a mantener mi salud mental evitando deprimirme en el proceso.
In that period of time I had to face my new reality one day at a time. I re-invented myself, decided to focus on solving how to generate new income with my physical limitations and at the same time look for activities that would help me maintain my mental health while avoiding getting depressed in the process.
Plataformas vía on-line y el Diseño Gráfico/ Online Platforms and Graphic Design
El Uso de plataformas para ventas vía online, el invertir tiempo en investigar y buscar asesoría en áreas distintas a la de la salud, resultaron ser experiencias productivas y antidepresivas. Por ejemplo, Invertí tiempo en aprender y practicar el Diseño Gráfico, comenzando por un programa de Adobe llamado Illustrator AI.
Using platforms for online sales, investing time in research and seeking advice in areas other than health, proved to be productive and antidepressant experiences. For example, I invested time in learning and practicing Graphic Design, starting with an Adobe program called Illustrator AI.
Aprendí a vectorizar y a diseñar logos a mi estilo propio porque soy autodidacta. Pero también he recibido asesoría de Profesionales en la materia. Mi fortaleza hasta los momentos los diseños abstractos. Sigo practicando, aprendiendo porque me gusta y comparto uno de mis artes para un cuadro que cree con formas geométricas.
I learned to vector and design logos in my own style because I'm self-taught. But I have also received advice from professionals in the field. My strength so far is abstract designs. I keep practicing, learning because I like and share one of my arts for a painting I create with geometric shapes.
Recuperando la Salud / Recovering Health
Paulatinamente he ido recuperando mi salud, aunque la movilidad de mis brazos mantiene cierto grado de limitación, tengo unos diez meses aproximadamente llevando mi vida casi con normalidad.
Gradually I have recovered my health, although the mobility of my arms maintains a certain degree of limitation, I have about ten months leading my life almost normally.
Los años de ejercicio profesional en rol asistencial ya quedaron en el pasado, sin embargo, tengo como proyecto a corto plazo retomar mi rol docente y participar activamente capacitando a profesionales de la salud en medio de la Pandemia del COVID-19. Unir esfuerzos es determinante en nuestra ardua y sagrada misión de siempre:

The years of professional practice in welfare role are in the past, however, I have as a short-term project to resume my teaching role and actively participate in training health professionals in the midst of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Joining efforts is a determining factor in our arduous and sacred mission of always:

Mi re-incorporación a la Actividad Laboral en Nuevos escenarios/ My re-entry into the labour market in new scenarios
Desde finales del año pasado me desempeño como Representante Comercial de un Laboratorio que comercializa y Distribuye Productos Farmacéuticos en Venezuela.
Since the end of last year I have been working as the Commercial Representative of a Laboratory that commercializes and distributes pharmaceutical products in Venezuela.
Es todo un Reto Trabajar en un área distinta a la habitual en medio de la crisis económica que afronta el país y la pandemia que nos mantiene en cuarentena desde mediados de Marzo, sin embargo, sigo dando mi mejor esfuerzo.
It is a challenge to work in a different area than usual in the midst of the economic crisis facing the country and the pandemic that has kept us in quarantine since mid-March, however, I continue to give my best effort.
Los humanos Somos seres adaptables y tenemos la capacidad para seguir luchando en escenarios diversos.
Humans We are adaptable beings and have the capacity to continue fighting in diverse scenarios.
Algunas reflexiones de vida/ Some reflections on life
Como Profesional de la Salud me tocó ser testigo del sufrimiento humano, vi seres humanos morir, presencie muchas despedidas.
As a Health Professional I witnessed human suffering, I saw human beings die, I witnessed many goodbyes.
Pero también fui testigo de grandes luchas por la vida, vi muchos seres humanos recuperarse de condiciones graves, vi muchas familias re-encontrarse y hermosas sonrisas dibujadas en sus rostros al momento de su egreso de la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos.
But I also witnessed great struggles for life, I saw many human beings recover from serious conditions, I saw many families reunited and beautiful smiles drawn on their faces as they left the Intensive Care Unit.
También me tocó vivir la enfermedad, durante ese período de mi vida no fui yo la guardiana y cuidadora de otros. Me tocó auto-cuidarme y recibir cuidados de mis seres amados más cercanos. Pude confirmar desde una óptica distinta que somos seres vulnerables y que nada está escrito, todo cambia.
I also had to live with the disease, during that period of my life I was not the guardian and caretaker of others. It was up to me to take care of myself and my closest loved ones. I was able to confirm from a different perspective that we are vulnerable beings and that nothing is written, everything changes.
Ciertamente Hay que valorar cada instante de nuestra existencia que es un regalo invaluable de parte de nuestro creador. Tener salud es una bendición y tenemos que cuidarla! Además, La familia y los seres amados son la posesión más valiosa que tenemos en la vida, disfrutar a plenitud cada instante a su lado.
Certainly we must value every moment of our existence which is an invaluable gift from our creator. Having health is a blessing and we have to take care of it! In addition, family and loved ones are the most valuable possession we have in life, enjoying every moment at their side.

Recuerden el lavado de manos frecuentes, mantener el distanciamiento físico y el uso de las mascarillas. Es momento de disciplina, el COVID-19 es una realidad y todos estamos expuestos!
Remember to wash hands frequently, maintain physical distance and use masks. It's time for discipline, the COVID-19 is a reality and we are all exposed!
Un homenaje a nuestros héroes/ A tribute to our heroes
Mi agradecimiento a todos los Miembros del Personal de Salud que continúan activos trabajando en primera fila atendiendo a los enfermos en los distintos centros de salud a nivel mundial, dando lo mejor de sí y exponiendo sus propias vidas en medio de la Pandemia.
My gratitude goes to all the Health Staff Members who continue to be active in the front line of caring for the sick in the various health centres around the world, giving their best and exposing their own lives in the midst of the Pandemic.
