Hi, I'm Derek.

I make my living traveling far away to press a button on a photon-collection device when everyone else is asleep.

I'm a landscape photographer from near Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, and this is my debut Steemit contribution. After hearing some great things about the network from photographer friends, I'm going to test the waters by jumping in.

Last fall I drove across Canada, every province coast to coast and north to the Territories to photograph my homeland on its 150th birthday, paying special attention to the National Parks in each province. My goal was to capture the natural beauty found in all parts of the country, like here in Banff National Park:

There was no shortage of beauty, only a shortage of time. The trip lasted twice as long as planned and felt rushed, but it was a great success nonetheless. Now that I'm home I'll be going through my photos and sharing them in order from west (the beaches of Vancouver Island) to east (Cape Spear, Newfoundland), with a slight diversion up to the Northwest Territories and Yukon.
