DRUG COMPENDIUM INTRODUCTION

Drug compendium is a project with a focus on ethical and dynamic patient-oriented health care, promoting the rational use of drugs and providing accurate and reliable drug information. The burden of drug therapy problems, drug abuse or misuse, irrational antibiotic prescriptions and drug resistance is increasing at an alarming rate and we hope to provide a solution to these problems in our own little way. This can be achieved by creating awareness on the rational use of drugs, antibiotic stewardship, solving/attending to drug therapy problems, offering ethical and professional patient counselling, providing reliable drug information and easy accessibility of drug and healthcare personnel.

The team comprises of pharmacists and often employs the services of other healthcare professionals. We have been working hard on achieving our vision by spreading the good news on Facebook and on Uniuyo FM 100.7 where we host a very insightful drug compendium programme every Saturday from 8:00 AM to 8:30 AM Nigerian time. Drug compendium has been on steemit for about eight months and is being run by Hive account@abbernard and Hive account@getencored. While we may not have been in our best behaviour (due to other commitments outside steemit) the steemit community has given drug compendium the opportunity to be reintroduced and we are going to make good use of it. During our hiatus, we took time to study how the community works, and how we can integrate the value we would provide into the blockchain.

We have redefined our goals from our existing vision: creating and developing an active and vibrant steemit community with rational drug use awareness and that can easily access drug information from qualified professionals when they need to and we plan to achieve them by:

• Partnering with other health and drug-related projects to add value to the community.
• Supporting newbies with interest in drugs and health-related posts.
• We plan to use proceeds earned on steemit to create awareness especially in rural areas and make drug information easily accessible and we have more to offer!

We are starting small but we believe we would get there. We would appreciate mentoring from experienced steemians, and other projects that believe our cause is a good one.
