Hi Steemit Songwriters!
The Music on Steemit
I've been checking out the music section a little bit more since I first got on steemit a month ago and I have to say there is a lot of great talent surfacing. I'm looking forward to more. :)
Composition Blog
I've been writing a series of blogs I'm calling Elements of Composition which is meant as a supplement for songwriters that are already studying music theory in a more complete context. I'm fast tracking the nuts and bolts of harmony so that we can get to compositional applications. This is a contemporary view of popular composition. I'm just getting to the good parts that should help you understand the way chords function. As a songwriter/composer these concepts will open worlds of opportunity and save you 'days' when looking for that elusive chord. This series will move along pretty quickly so don't worry about keeping pace. Absorb what you can as you can and refer to the information that interests you most if you should choose to follow along.
I also recommend you check out and
on steemit for a more complete overview on music theory.

Advanced Harmonic Concepts
From time to time I will release a blog on advanced harmonic concepts which I hope will be useful to soloists and composers alike. We will explore the altered scale, melodic minor, diminished scale, whole-tone scale and others.
About Me
I spent several years doing the things musicians need to do to survive, including casual gigs, shows, studio sessions and lessons. I've been fortunate to play with and learn from many great musicians. Guitar is my first instrument and I play bass and drums as well. I studied composition with Carl Schroeder, Scott Henderson, and Arlene Matza at Musicians' Institute in L.A. 28 years ago. I've been on hiatus from the music scene for the last few years as I've been busy with other business endeavors.
P.S. I broke my front tooth! Upvote so I can get a gold tooth! LOL
